The owners of Sandy Springs Latin American restaurant Mojave announced early Sunday that the eatery would be closing later that night, March 8. There was no reason provided for the closure nor any indication as to what, if anything, may replace it anytime soon.
Rainer Shaw (previously with Le Bilboquet and AG Entertainment) and Lana Yakovleva purchased Mojave in May 2024. According to the sales offering from Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group who handled the 2024 sale, Mojave had reached sales of nearly $7.5 million in years before the sale.
Clearly, things changed under the new owners.
Are you surprised to see Mojave close? What has been your favorite restaurant in this space? What would you like most to see open in place of Mojave?

Seafood restaurant
You didn’t hear it from me, but they ran a test on the plumbing and found dihydrogen monoxide.
🤣
I can get behind that!
I’m not surprised - went late last year and service was horrible. Long waits for simple items like a beer. Dinner of tacos took hours.
Really groovy architecture. Perfect spot for a swingers club.
Got anything to back that up?
What a pathetic attempt at humor. I am not sure what is sadder: your sense of humor or your lack of impulse control. And yes, I weighed not commenting, but this isn’t X. I don’t think you’re being an edgelord. I think you were being your authentic self, and society needs to rebuke you for its own betterment.
Hours? Exaggerate much?
It went completely downhill after the sell. I was a regular after the sell I went a couple times it wasn't the same. But Rose and Crown is down the street so we go there now.
Very surprised loved it
Didn't Rose & Crown just flunk their health inspection. So gross. Who cares if they get a better score for a re-inspection. It will just go back to being disgusting.
I bet people can't wait until you arrive at the party.
To compete with Rays on the River and Canoe? Really?
It was shocking how hard Mojave fell after the change. That death was a long time coming.
I’m also expecting Bocado to hit these roundups soon… their food is such a bore now. And I have no idea how they could be making enough money to pay the staff when the workers always outnumber the patrons.
