[WOW] Trendy West Midtown Restaurant and Rooftop For Sale, Set to Close

Upscale Mexican restaurant and rooftop Palo Santo is closing.  The hotspot opened in a freestanding building beside the King Plow Arts Center at 955 West Marietta Street in September 2022 and is slated to close at the end of the month.

ToNeTo Atlanta first got wind of the potential closure more than a month ago but only recently did the restaurant confirm the impending closure.

Palo Santo received a 66 and a "U" on its routine health inspection on April 17.  The restaurant had scored a 76 on its routine May 2025 inspection before scoring a perfect 100 on the follow-up.  (There was no online record of a follow up to the April inspection.)

Violations cited in their April inspection include observation of a "large buildup of mold-like substance on interior bulk ice machine" as well as several yogurts and sauces stored beyond their seven day expiration, as well as other items stored without proper labeling.

Although not marketed by name, ToNeTo Atlanta has confirmed that Palo Santo is the "West Midtown Freestanding Restaurant & Bar w/Rooftop Venue" that was listed for sale shortly after the issuance of the poor health score.

Owners of the 5,800 square foot restaurant reportedly spent $3.2 million opening the business, according to the sales offering from Steve Josoviitz of The Shumacher Group.  (The building was previously home to musically inspired pizza spot Do at The View.)

The sales listing indicates that the two-story restaurant comes with "all in" monthly rent of $30,000 and is being offered for sale for $495,000.

Palo Santo is expected to stay open for two more weeks - closing as of June 27 - surprisingly before the conclusion of Atlanta's FIFA World Cup festivities on July 19.

The owners of Palo Santo are not slowing down, however, with the group having on June 10 debuted their new cocktail club Incognito on Howell Mill Road in the old Fishmonger space.  The owners are also opening a new upscale Mexican steakhouse - Botanico - in the old Lure restaurant space on Crescent Avenue in Midtown.

Are you surprised to see Palo Santo close?  What would you most like to see open in place of Palo Santo?  Have you been to Incognito?
