ToNeTo Atlanta was first report in 2024 that beloved specialty grocer Trader Joe's was finally looking to add as many as six new stores to the greater metro Atlanta area. Since then, the company has opened new stores in Chastain Park, Alpharetta, Peachtree City, and Johns Creek. We are pleased to now share that several incredibly well-placed sources tell us that another store is in the works.
Leasing materials for Oglethorpe Crossing indicate that a new "anchor" is set to occupy the left portion of the former Publix, with potential for a small shop/retail or restaurant space to take the balance of the former grocery.
Trader Joe's is notorious for strict confidentiality requirements of both its landlords and leasing representatives, so while we are very confident a deal is done or nearly done, we were unable to obtain confirmation of the Brookhaven store on the record.
Coro, who purchased the center in 2011, also previously owned Chastain Market and was responsible for the successful backfilling of the former Sprouts with Trader Joe's and BAM (Books A Million).

The new store will reportedly be about 18,000 square feet, on the larger side of a typical Trader Joe's, with most being between 8,000 and 15,000 square feet.
The new store, likely to the chagrin of residents in places like Gwinnett, Cobb, and South DeKalb counties, among other areas, is within a few miles of three existing Trader Joe's stores.
The Chastain Park store (4600 Roswell Road) is a little over four miles away, the Buckhead store (3183 Peachtree Road) is five miles away, and the Sandy Springs store (6277 Roswell Road) is a little more than five miles away.
Monrovia, California-based Trader Joe's opened its first stores in metro Atlanta in October 2006. The company opened a total of six stores in metro Atlanta (Midtown, Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Peachtree Corners, and East Cobb) between 2006 and 2008. A store in Athens was added in 2010, but it was only in late 2024, nearly two decades after their Atlanta debut, that the grocer finally opened more stores in metro Atlanta.
New stores opened in Chastain Market in Chastain Park in Sandy Springs, Halcyon in Alpharetta, Avenue Peachtree City in Peachtree City and most recently, Medley in Johns Creek.
Another new store is expected to open as part of a new AMLI Residential development along Commerce Drive in Decatur on the site of the onetime "Baby Kroger" (which before that, had been a Harris Teeter and an A&P).
The grocer currently operates more than 500 stores nationwide

Yes please!! Brookhaven. Truly needs this Trader Joe’s. The Buckhead and chastain locations are just too far in traffic. Been waiting on this news for a year!!
CVS next door to the space told me it’s going to be an Aldi. Not Trader Joe’s.
YAYY!!!! I am so excited. I live near this plaza and anxiously awaiting what would replace the Publix. TJ's was always the 1st choice!
Yes, finally! I've had fingers crossed for this since the Kroger went out across the street years ago. We are spoiled for choice in this area, but I think TJ's will fit in well. I currently drive all the way to the Peachtree Corners one because it seems better stocked than the others.

I said from day 1 that’s the perfect spot for it! the traffic will be messy with that intersection at Johnson ferry but it’s the price to pay :)

This is great news for Brookhaven. I’d love to shop at the other Trader Joe’s stores close to where I live in Brookhaven, but I never find myself anywhere near those locations.. Everything that I need is right around my area. This will make Brookhaven even better..

Great news for the Brookhaven/Chamblee area. While other TJs are near from a mileage standpoint the effort to get to them in traffic isn’t worth it. I am thrilled to have a close option that I can frequent. Also excited to see what other tenants this draws to the plaza.
