ToNeTo Atlanta continues to be your number one source for updates on the Atlanta market expansion of Raising Cane's, and we are pleased to report that another Raising Cane's is moving forward!
The new Raising Cane's will be built from the ground up on the roughly one acre property. Cobb County property records indicate that the current roughly 5,600 square foot building was constructed in 1996 when it opened as a location of The Italian Oven Restaurant chain. The Juicy Crab opened in the building in early 2020.
The restaurant would be situated alongside existing locations of LongHorn Steakhouse and Olive Garden.
Heritage Hills was sold in September by Atlanta-based Garner Group, but the firm retained several outparcels, including the Raising Cane's property.
The new Austell Raising Cane's - slated to open in late 2027 - will be the chain's fourth in Cobb County. The company opened a new restaurant in Kennesaw this past January, with another planned for Cobb Parkway in Smyrna and one more planned along Johnson Ferry Road in East Cobb. A company representative told ToNeTo Atlanta that the Smyrna location - where Red Lobster has yet to close - is slated to open in mid to late 2027, while timing (and confirmation) of the East Cobb unit was not yet available.
ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported in November 2024 that Raising Cane's plans to open new locations on Piedmont Road in Buckhead and on 14th Street in West Midtown, where in both cases the chain is replacing former Krystal restaurants. The Piedmont and 14th Street restaurants are finally under construction, with a company representative telling ToNeTo Atlanta that both are slated for 2027 openings.
The chain, which also has a location slated to open this fall in Macon, is actively looking to expand its presence locally, but has abandoned plans for site specific locations in Dunwoody and Chastain Park.
There are currently fourteen Raising Cane's restaurants open across Georgia.
For those unfamiliar - aka non-"Caniacs" - of which there don't seem to be many, Raising Cane's features a very simple menu with a focus on fried chicken fingers. Menu offerings also include a fried chicken sandwich, crinkle-cut fries, Texas Toast, coleslaw, and not much else. University of Georgia graduate Todd Graves, along with his business partner Craig Silvey, opened the first Raising Cane's in Baton Rouge near the LSU campus in 1996.
Earlier this year, the company surpassed 1,000 Raising Cane's restaurants across 44 states, plus Guam and Washington D.C.
Are you excited about the opening of Raising Cane's in Austell? Who do you think makes the best chicken tenders? Where else in metro Atlanta would you like to see Raising Cane's open?
