New Bar Where Beautiful Women Will Instinctively Flock Opening in Buckhead?

The short-lived East Paces Tavern is being reborn as a new establishment touting "delectable tapasand a sophisticated, upscale atmosphere."  Aspen Bartini is scheduled to open November 15th and will apparently fill the piano bar void left in Buckhead with the reconcepting of Beluga on Piedmont Road into the younger-targeted Rose Bar.

East Paces Tavern took nearly a year to open in the former Abbadabba's space but only lasted a few months before closing in late September.  The business allowed smoking inside and the smoking permeated the entire building necessitating a complete interior overhaul for the new concept.

Aspen Bartini's website has little on it but their Facebook page goes into detail about what they plan to offer would-be patrons.

"Our mission is to enrich the lives of our guests, our team members and owners. We achieve this through superior quality food and beverages, legendary customer service, sales growth, cost controls and treating our team members like family. We believe that our guests are the most important reason we are in business and our success depends upon creating and retaining an exceptional dining experience to every customer, every time. Cause defines a legendary, unbridled passion for perfection."

Management at the restaurant mentioning industry objectives like sales growth and cost control in a mission statement to the general public is more than a little odd.  Additionally, the statement as a whole makes me question what exactly they are opening or if they proofread...at all.

This mission statement made me think of this other now defunct bar / lounge that had one of the strangest / most poorly written descriptions I've ever heard.

As you can see from the attached photo, the restaurant's tagline is :

"Where the beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano."

As movie buffs will recall, this is a quote from the classic 1994 Farrelly brothers' film Dumb & Dumber.  The aforementioned line is said by Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carey) to co-star Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) when describing Aspen.  While this, of course, sounds weird if you're unfamiliar with or don't remember the film, I actually think its a fun connection to make, albeit a little "dumb."

One obvious addition to the restaurant was the outdoor patio constructed in the parking lot.  I like the idea of a patio but it also took away a number of parking spaces of which they don't have many.  The parking lot also has an annoying and large pothole at the entrance (off East Paces Ferry) which has yet be filled.

I think this joint definitely has potential but needs to decide what it wants to be...and fast.

What do you think of this concept?  Does their Dumb & Dumber humor excite you or does it make it seem lame already?  Will you go here once it opens?  If Aspen does fail, what do you think would do well in its place?

Too subtle. Call it "The Meat Market" and stick a price tag on female customers as they walk in.

Their target demographic was in elementary school when Dumb & Dumber was released.

Go ahead and pencil this down for the Death Watch... now.

People still go to Buckhead bars? I thought people have moved on to the east side of town.

It's swallows to Capistrano, not salmon. But what do I know? I'm not a Paris Hilton wannabe, the target market of this losing establishment.

"Hey, let's open a bar and meet chicks."

Which dies first, this place or Modern (which I'm not sure is actually open yet. It's always closed when I drive by).

@Anon,

Good call. I was uber unimpressed with Modern. Del Friscos Grille may have some issues but its stand a far better chance at still being open in 12 months...IMO.

DeathWatch year end 2012 coming soon...

Thanks for reading and for the comments.

Yes this is exactly what we need more of. A place where horny guys can go thinking that boobs are going to magically fall out of women's tops and where women can go to try to find a guy who will buy them drinks and marry them, then not understand it when they only want sex. Nice.

That's intentional. The whole line is a quote from the movie "Dumb & Dumber."

Appropriate "Dumb & Dumber" reference given that will likely represent the clientele.
