[EXCLUSIVE] Burlington to Open New Store Near Northlake in Tucker

A new Burlington [Coat Factory] will be joining the lineup at Briarcliff Village in Tucker.  Burlington will open in the nearly 26,000 square foot space vacated earlier this spring by Office Depot.  In Briarcliff Village, Burlington joins existing anchors TJ Maxx and Publix in the nearly 200,000 square foot center.  With about 750 stores, the Burlington, New Jersey-based retailer is the third largest off-price department store in the country after TJ Maxx and ROSS.

Burlington operates more than 25 stores in Georgia with several in metro Atlanta including locations at North DeKalb Mall near Decatur, on Cobb Parkway in Marietta, near North Point Mall in Alpharetta and on Buford Highway in Doraville, among others.

The new Tucker store, located less than four miles from North DeKalb Mall, will reportedly replace, rather than be in addition to, the  North DeKalb store.  [The current North DeKalb store occupies a onetime Uptons, as does the current Publix in Briarcliff Village.]  Sources close to the retailer indicate plans call for the new store to open summer 2021.

According to the Burlington website, the company opened a staggering 17 stores on September 10 alone, a remarkable accomplishment in the current retail climate.

Are you excited for the opening of Burlington at Northlake?  What is your favorite off-price retailer?  What other retailers would you like to see open in the Northlake area?

Please share your thoughts below.

Which essentially leaves Marshalls, AMC and Dollar Tree left at N. Dekalb. When are they moving out, and then tearing down the rest of the dilapidated mall.

Not the best option but I am OK with Burlington coming to Briarcliff Village. I used to shop at the North Dekalb location but think that location has been going down hill. Will be able to go to TJMaxx and Burlington at the same time. The storefront is set back some but hopefully that won't matter. I didn't know there use to be an Upton's in that center. Nice tidbit of information

I'm not a BCF shopper so the news isn't that exciting. However I'll take a reputable retailer over an empty store. I was hoping for a Home Goods (or better yet - a HomeSense). My wish is that they bulldoze the dead wing at Northlake Festival (Bally's/Haverty's/ToysRUs) and build a Lowe's Home Improvement.

Huh? They're gonna close the North DeKalb store? That seems like it would put a dent in plans for the future of North DeKalb mall.

Another nail in the coffin for poor North DeKalb Mall, but perhaps Burlington not having a long-term lease to honor there might positively affect companies interested in future renovation of the mall property - please! I hope the new store at Briarcliff Village will not be as discouraging regarding the decor and merchandise selection as the one at North DeKalb.

I last tried to shop at Burlington at N DeKalb about a month ago and not only did I not find much of anything in men's clothing, but their entire stock was visibly depleted, the writing was on the wall either way and I'm glad the area is getting a nice replacement store.

I would LOVE to see a Lowe’s in the area and a Costco so we don’t have to keep driving to Brookhaven. An Egg Harbor restaurant would be great too.

I hope they carry better name brand because I know TJ Maxx really do not have anything in the little boys department and women. I hope Burlington have better material of clothing not cheap clothes.
