[EXCLUSIVE] P.F. Chang's Returning to Atlanta Suburb After Two Year Absence

ToNeTo Atlanta has learned that P.F. Chang's will later this year return to Dunwoody with a new location planned for Perimeter Mall.  The new restaurant will open between Breakers Korean BBQ and The Cheesecake Factory at the front of the popular suburban mall.

The roughly 6,300 square foot space was for much of its existence home to Goldfish, a restaurant from Here to Serve Restaurants, but was most recently occupied by The Cowfish.  ToNeTo Atlanta reported in September 2019 that Whiskey Cake, a restaurant from Velvet Taco creator Front Burner Restaurants, would open in the space, but the onset of the pandemic just a few short months later reportedly killed the deal for it and its sibling concept Sixty Vines, to open at the mall.

P.F. Chang's closed its former Dunwoody restaurant, a little less than a mile away, in May 2020.  The restaurant, located in what was then Ashford Restaurant Park, reportedly was not expected to be part of the property's redevelopment and with its lease due to expire in July 2020, opted to close.  [Brio Tuscan Grille and McCormick & Schmick's previously closed in the center in August 2017 and January 2018, respectively.]

Perimeter Marketplace, the center that replaced the former restaurant project, debuted a new Publix in late January and is scheduled to see several new restaurants open soon including First Watch, Panda Express, Burger-Fi, Chopt and Chicken Salad Chick.

The new Dunwoody P.F. Chang's joins existing Atlanta area locations in Cumberland Mall near Smyrna, North Point Mall in Alpharetta and Mall of Georgia in Buford.  The chain also has a licensed location at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport and another at Augusta Mall in Augusta.

In addition to P.F. Chang's, Perimeter Mall in February welcomed Atlanta's second Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar to an outparcel near the corner of Ashford Dunwoody Road and Perimeter Center West.  In the months to come, the mall will also welcome a new-build Buffalo Wild Wings near the freestanding Chick-fil-A at the corner of Ashford Dunwoody Road and Hammond Drive.  In the mall's food court, Poke N Ramen will soon open in addition to a new outpost of Fuddruckers.

The pad site next to Lazy Dog, which was to have welcomed Sixty Vines, could be a nice landing spot for True Food Kitchen which as of 2012 is majority owned by P.F. Chang's and currently has Atlanta area units at Lenox Square in Buckhead and Avalon in Alpharetta.

Sources close to the mall tell ToNeTo Atlanta that P.F. Chang's has started initial work in the space and currently plans to be open in time for the coming holiday shopping season.

Are you pleased to hear P.F. Chang's is returning to Dunwoody?  What other restaurants would you like to see open in or around the mall?  What metro Atlanta mall do you visit most frequently?

Please share your thoughts below.

I'm happy P.F Chang's is coming back to Dunwoody. Definitely closer than going to Buford or Alpharetta.

Sodium bombs.

Ate there years ago and had to drink a gallon of water to quench thirst.

Looked up the sodium content of the dishes there... Holy crap! Most above 2,000 mg and some approaching 4,000mg.

While it can be tasty, the food there is hazardous to your health. Beware.
