[ALERT] Henri's to "Rise" in Brookhaven This Fall

Henri’s Bakery & Deli Friday announced that it plans to open its fifth location, this time in Alpharetta Brookhaven. The new location will be at the corner of Johnson Ferry and Ashford Dunwoody Roads, where it will replace Corner Pizza, which closed this past December after 14 years in business.  The building, located at 2163 Johnson Ferry Road, was before Corner Pizza a Domino's Pizza franchise.  Henri's plans to open later this fall, according to a Facebook post it made announcing the new location. 

[EXCLUSIVE] Texas Chain to Bring its "Do-Nuts" to Atlanta

With Whataburger slated to open its first two Atlanta area locations later this year and Buc-ee's already with two locations open in Georgia, another Texas favorite now has its eyes set on a Peach state premiere.  Shipley Do-Nuts, a Houston-based franchise specializing in do-nuts (of which the company offers 60 varieties!), kolaches, and coffee, recently signed two franchise agreements that are expected to bring as many as 30 locations to the Atlanta area in the coming years.

Bits & Bites

Popeyes is opening in the Cumberland Mall food court.  A new Popeyes will join the food roster opening between American Deli and Mandarin Express in a space previously leased to "The Original Hot Dog Factory."  The hot dog franchise never opened, with real estate sources calling the concept "half-baked."  ToNeTo Atlanta reported March 15 that Fuddruckers will also open in the food court.

[UPDATE] Developers Break Ground on New Mixed Use Development Near Sagamore Hills

Those traveling the busy intersection of Briarcliff and Clairmont Roads in recent days were greeted with a vastly different landscape.  Following the dismantling and removal of a landmark billboard at the corner weeks ago, a series of largely abandoned structures were in recent days demolished to make way for a new mixed-use development.  "Lumen Briarcliff" will rise on the roughly 3.85 acre site (3070 Briarcliff Road) and will bring with it hundreds of "luxury" apartments as well as new retail space. 

[EXCLUSIVE] Academy Sports "Scores" Space for New Store

A new Academy Sports + Outdoors is coming soon to Dunwoody.  The new store, slated to open later this fall, will open in place of Bed Bath & Beyond which closed its store at 130 Perimeter Center West in February.   The new Academy store, while still OTP, will be the closest intown the Katy, Texas-based company operates a store in metro Atlanta.  The roughly 50,000 square foot store joins existing anchors T.J. Maxx, Haverty's, PetSmart and Total Wine & More in the Perimeter Square shopping center.

According to the company, "America Runs on Dunkin'": Following its late 2020 acquisition by Atlanta-based Inspire Brands, Dunkin' seems intent on ensuring that Atlanta, too, runs on Dunkin'.  Already with more than 250 locations in the state, ToNeTo Atlanta has learned that there are not one but two new Dunkin' locations coming to Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.

[EXCLUSIVE] Former Award Winning Buckhead Restaurant to Become "Upscale Korean Steakhouse"

A new steakhouse is coming to Buckhead.  Justin Lim, the owner of Okiboru Ramen and Tsukemen, has now leased a second space at the Ardmore condos (2277 Peachtree Road), not far from Peachtree Battle, for his new restaurant.  The new restaurant, described in a listing announcing the lease execution by broker Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group, as an "upscale Korean infused A5 Waygu steakhouse," will open in place of Restaurant Eugene which closed in 2019 after 15 years in business.

[EXCLUSIVE] Chick-fil-A Secures Prime Intown Location for New Restaurant

After hearing rumblings of it earlier this year, we are pleased to be able to confirm now that Chick-fil-A has secured space for its first Brookhaven location.  The new Chick-fil-A will open in place of the longtime Hudson Grille along Peachtree Road at Brookhaven Station.  Chick-fil-A will reportedly renovate the roughly 8,100 square foot space to suit their needs and due to both its location and limitations of the City of Brookhaven, it will not have a drive-thru.  Instead, the focus of the restaurant will be on dine-in, delivery, catering and takeout orders.

[UPDATE] Cheesecake Factory-Backed Italian Concept Sets Opening Dates For Atlanta Restaurants

North Italia, a sibling restaurant of Flower Child, plans to open both of its planned Atlanta area locations later this summer.  The Buckhead outpost at the front of Lenox Square replaces former sibling Fox Restaurant Concepts brand Zinburger, while the Dunwoody outpost replaces California Pizza Kitchen (CPK).  Both Zinburger and CPK closed in 2020.

[EXCLUSIVE] Popular Szechuan Restaurant Returning to Powers Ferry Road

Tasty China appears primed for a return to Powers Ferry Road.  Renderings indicate that a new Tasty China is planned for the site of the former Frontera Mex-Mex Grill at 1808 Powers Ferry Road.  The freestanding restaurant building was largely destroyed in an early morning May 2015 fire and sat idle for years before being demolished.

[EXCLUSIVE] Shuttered Atlanta Area Zoes Kitchen to Reopen as Cava

A former Zoes Kitchen on Roswell Road in East Cobb will, in fact, reopen as a new Cava restaurant.  Located at 4400 Roswell Road in the LA Fitness-anchored Merchants Exchange shopping center, the 2,951 square foot Zoes Kitchen closed during the first half of 2020 and has been vacant ever since.  The East Cobb restaurant was one of eight Atlanta area Zoes that closed in 2020 and was one of four that the company did not immediately reopen.

A new kind of business is coming to Decatur.  The Cereal Lab, an eatery that will offer cereal, milkshakes and ice cream bowls, among other desserts, has signed a lease for 335 West Ponce de Leon Avenue, Suite D.  The eatery takes the place of the onetime Verizon store adjacent to The Great Frame Up in the bottom of the 335 West Ponce condo building.

[EXCLUSIVE] Something Brewing in East Cobb

A growing coffee shop has its sights set on Georgia.  Scooter's Coffee, which currently has two locations in the greater metro Atlanta area, will open its newest location at 2197 Roswell Road in East Cobb.  The new coffee shop will be located in an outparcel of the center currently known as Marshalls at Eastlake.  We say currently, as namesake anchor Marshalls will relocate to nearby Merchants Walk later this fall, leaving its 27,000 square foot space vacant.

[EXCLUSIVE] Dick's Bringing Another New Concept Store to Kennesaw

A new store, whose purpose is to "celebrate and protect public lands for all," will open just its third location later this fall in Kennesaw.  Public Lands, a concept store launched in 2021 by parent company Dick's Sporting Goods, will replace fellow Dick's sibling brand Field & Stream when it opens later this October at Town Center Common just off Barrett Parkway.  Field & Stream, which replaced a former JC Penney Home Store, opened in Kennesaw in late July 2017 and closed this past March.
