A sibling concept from the popular Texas Roadhouse (NASDAQ: TXRH) restaurant chain is coming to Georgia! Bubba's 33, a sports bar-themed restaurant, is slated to open in August at The Exchange at Gwinnett, a new Fuqua Development project just off I-85 exit 115 in Buford. The roughly 9,000 square foot restaurant will occupy a newly built freestanding building within the mixed-use project.
Kent Taylor, who died by suicide in 2021 following intense post COVID-19 effects, opened the first Texas Roadhouse in 1993 and grew the chain to more than 600 locations worldwide. Bubba's name stems from two factors: Bubba is Taylor’s nickname, and when prohibition ended in 1933, the populace was euphoric.
Launched in 2013 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the Bubba's 33 brand grew slowly, reaching 20 locations in 2017. Today there are 37 Bubba's open with the Buford location and another unit in Las Cruces, New Mexico slated to open this summer. According to the Bubba's website, six more units are already planned for 2023, including pairs of restaurants planned for Texas and Virginia.
Bubba's 33 features a menu primarily focused on burgers, pizza, wings and beer, all of which are prepared in the restaurant's scratch kitchen. The restaurant also has tons of TVs. Another brand tie-in comes from the fact that the restaurant serves its beer at 33 degrees. Bubba's will be the first sports bar in The Exchange at Gwinnett, but the nearby Mall of Georgia is already home to Taco Mac. Hooters and Buffalo Wild Wings, among other similar concepts.
The new Buford Bubba's 33 (2925 Buford Drive Suite 700) is about two and half miles from where Texas Roadhouse opened its Buford restaurant at 2925 Buford Drive in December 2018. In addition to the Buford outpost, Texas Roadhouse has opened several other locations in the greater metro Atlanta area in recent years including restaurants in Rome in December 2020 and Cartersville in November 2021.
In The Exchange at Gwinnett, Bubba's 33 joins recently opened eateries such as JINYA Ramen Bar, Five Guys, MOD Pizza, Starbucks, The Halal Guys, Jersey Mike's Subs, Wingstop, Planet Smoothie, and soon, restaurants such as Whataburger, Central City Tavern, Popeyes, Gusto and Hacienda, among others.
Are you a fan of Texas Roadhouse? Have you ever been to a Bubba's 33? If the company were to expand Bubba's 33 in the greater metro Atlanta area, where should they open next?

My kids & I love Texas Roadhouse. In fact, i like it a little better than another Steakhouse that's in the Buford area. I've never been to a Bubbas33, therefore I can't wait to check this out. We are from the Pittsburgh, PA area (been here about 4yrs) & think they should open one there too. It'll definitely be a hit near the Pittsburgh Airport region (Robinson Town Center to be exact).
They should open another in the Cumming & Winder areas. I would love to try this out if they have a "soft" opening before opening fully to the general public.
Love Texas Roadhouse but don’t go anymore. If it wasn’t for the always 2 or more hour waits I would definitely go. Obviously those long waits only attest to the fact that it’s a great place to be but anyways no I have never been to or heard of Bubbas 33….. BUT going there tonight and after reading this I am looking forward to going.
