[EXCLUSIVE] Growing Healthy Eatery Secures Space in Suburban Shopping Center

A new restaurant offering healthy bowls, sandwiches, wraps, juices and shakes, among other items, will next year open what will likely be its third Atlanta area location.  ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported this past October that Original ChopShop would make their Atlanta debut on Peachtree Road in south Buckhead.  We later reported that the Arizona-based chain was opening a second location in Alpharetta near North Point Mall.

Now, after months of negotiations, we are able to confirm a third Original ChopShop will open at Cumberland Festival near Cumberland Mall where the healthy eatery will occupy a roughly 2,500 square foot space that was most recently home to Schlotzsky's [Austin Eatery].

Original ChopShop features a rather diverse menu with several protein bowls, wraps, sandwiches and salads in addition to acai and pitaya bowls, avocado toast, other breakfast wraps and bowls, as well as protein shakes and cold brew coffee.  Fresh juices and lemonades as well as sides like sweet potato hash with kale and onion, as well as a kids' menu, are also offered.

There are currently seventeen locations of the Original ChopShop open in Arizona and Texas with seven more, including the three Atlanta area outposts, "coming soon" in the next year, according to the company's website.

Raleigh-based Hargett Hunter Capital Partners (HHCP) acquired a majority stake in both the Original ChopShop and separate chain Bellagreen in 2016.  The firm sold Bellagreen in July to Richardson, Texas-based Ampex Brands with plans to prioritize growth of Original ChopShop.

Sources close to the chain tell ToNeTo Atlanta that current plans call for the south Buckhead location to open in early September, followed by Alpharetta later this fall, and Cumberland during the first half of 2023.

Have you been to Original ChopShop? What is your favorite quick-serve healthy eatery?  Where in metro Atlanta would you like to see Original ChopShop open next?

the location on Peachtree has taken forever to build out, leaving many to believe they must be short on funding. Should not take over 10 months to build out a space that was a Panera before. Hope their service is quicker than their buildout. No doubt, however, is that they will be another overpriced salad cafe.

Not short of funds. Just dealing with construction and permit delays. 8+ months to get a permit. Then a 2 month additional delay on a city of Atlanta permit for the general contractor. Rocking and rolling now. October 2022 opening. Alpharetta permit received today. Jan 2023 opening. Cumberland going into permitting 8/11. Likely March 2023 opening.

@Jason Morgan I live right over here by your Buckhead location. If you run into anymore problems, let me know and I can probably give you some recommendations...

If you take a look at the website, pricing is actually very affordable for items from breakfast to shakes and entrees. Compared to other brands that are similar, Original ChopShop seems like it is one that could used a few times a week without breaking the bank. Excited for them to get open!
