Bonus Bits & Bites

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar plans to open its third Atlanta area location February 1 near North Point Mall in Alpharetta.  The new restaurant is located at the corner of Haynes Bridge Road and North Point Parkway and occupies a newly built, freestanding building.  The first Atlanta area Lazy Dog opened in Peachtree Corners in 2019 followed by a second at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody this past January.

P.F. Chang's China Bistro plans to open its new location at Perimeter Mall Wednesday, February 1, 2023.  The new restaurant, which ToNeTo Atlanta first broke news of this past July, is located at the front of the mall, along Ashford Dunwoody Road, alongside mall mainstays such as Maggiano's Little Italy and The Cheesecake Factory.  The new restaurant serves as a replacement of the P.F. Chang's which closed in 2020 a few minutes away in the now redeveloped Publix center.  The new P.F. Chang's joins the Scottsdale, Arizona-based chain's other Atlanta locations in Alpharetta, Buford, Cumberland and Augusta.  Later in 2023, Buffalo Wild Wings will also open a new two-story restaurant in an outparcel of Perimeter Mall near Chick-fil-A, and Doc B's Restaurant + Bar will make their Atlanta area debut with a new location next to Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar.

Kyuramen is opening what will be its second Atlanta area location in Sandy Springs.  The Flushing, New York-based chain opened its first Atlanta area location in early November at the corner of Satellite Boulevard and Lawrenceville Suwanee Road in Suwanee.  The new Sandy Springs location is opening in Abernathy Square where it replaces Ippolito's which closed in 2020 due to a significant fire.  Ippolito's had been in the center for 28 years with ownership indicating shortly after the fire that they planned to reopen.  The new ramen joint plans to spend several months renovating the 3,600 square foot space and open next spring.

Yalda is now open (for takeout only) at Aria Village in Sandy Springs.  The new "Persian-Mediterranean" restaurant from executive chef and co-owner Ashkan Familiis is offering a limited version of its menu for now as it works toward opening for dine-in service soon.  Current menu offerings include assorted spreads, salads, wraps and large plates with several kabob options.   A second Yalda is expected to open in 2023 at The Osprey apartment development on Howell Mill Road in West Midtown.

The site of a onetime Burger Chef restaurant in Brookhaven that had more recently operated as a Budget car & truck rental facility, will in 2023 welcome a new tenant.  While we were hoping for someone to make use of the old building, of which very few remain in existence today, the building was instead torn down to make way for a new Circle K convenience store and fuel center.

High Country Outfitters has opened its newest Atlanta area location at The Forum on Peachtree Parkway Peachtree Corners in Peachtree Corners.  The new store is the Atlanta-based chain's seventh, joining existing outposts in Alpharetta, Buckhead, East Cobb, Midtown, Athens and Peachtree City.  The local business first opened in 1975.

High County is a good get for The Forum, but I still wish Orvis was still there.

The Forum was renamed "The Forum Peachtree Corners." It is not The Forum on Peachtree Pkwy.

I miss Ipps. Used to go to the Peachtree Corners location.
Lazy Dog is fine. It's got an expansive menu of mediocre food and a decent vibe. My parents, who are in their 80s, like it so we go from time to time. They could use another healthy choice or two. With a menu that large, you'd think there would be at least a couple options with less than 1,500 calories.

It should be called P. F. Sodium's. My God. Most entrees have over 2,500mg of sodium. Nasty.

lazy dog tries too hard

I gave Lazy Dog at Perimeter two tries. The first was moderately busy, but food was not hot when we finally got it And was only “ok.” Second time, waited almost 20 minutes for a server to even greet us as the hostess seated us - not overly busy, but three servers working the area we were in the middle of ignored us. We finally just left - never went back. Menu is too eclectic, there’s a dish or two of different food styles (Italian, Asian, etc, but nothing done really well. Too expensive for mediocre food and substandard service.
