[EXCLUSIVE] Popular Neighborhood Eatery to Open in Vinings

HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern, the popular local eatery with four existing locations, will open a new Vinings outpost this summer.  The new restaurant will be located in Vinings Jubilee (4300 Paces Ferry Road #250) where HOBNOB will replace Paces & Vine.  Opened by the team behind popular Virginia Highland restaurant Murphy's in late 2014, Paces & Vine hit the market in late 2021.

[EXCLUSIVE] Wawa Zeros in on First Georgia Location

Wawa, the popular chain of convenience stores and gas stations which announced plans this past October to enter the Georgia market, seems to have secured its first location in the state.  Newly released planning documents indicate a new Wawa is planned for 1810 S. Georgia Parkway W in Waycross, about four hours south of Atlanta and about ninety minutes north of Jacksonville.  The property Wawa would occupy is currently home to Cavagnaro's, a local steak and seafood restaurant.

[EXCLUSIVE] Another "Bar Restaurant Lounge" Planned for Busy Buckhead Area

A local restaurant and lounge owner is looking to breathe new life into a former Buckhead restaurant.  Marco Betti, owner of Antica Posta and partner in Sauce, has submitted plans to the Development Review Committee (DRC) to renovate and reopen the former Portofino as "Espresso Bar Restaurant Lounge." "Bar Ti Amo"  Portofino, located at 3199 Paces Ferry Place, closed this past October after 22 years in business. 

[SCORE!] Drew Brees-backed Sports Bar to Enter Metro Atlanta

A new sports bar-backed by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees will soon open its first Atlanta area restaurant.  Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, which was started in Baton Rouge in 2003, plans to open later this summer at 3625 Dallas Highway at The Avenue West Cobb in Marietta.  The new restaurant replaces Romano's Macaroni Grill, which closed at the center during the first half of 2020.

[CLOSURE ALERT] Two Cheeseburger Bobby's Locations Have Closed, One May Reopen

Cheeseburger Bobby's locations in both Peachtree Corners and Sandy Springs have closed in recent weeks with sources telling ToNeTo Atlanta that the franchisor of the locally owned business may be looking to reopen at least one of them.  Cheeseburger Bobby's was started by Bobby Stoll, who along with his brother Richard, co-founded and later sold the Stevi B's Pizza Buffet chain.  (Richard now operates the two unit Huey Luey's chain)  

[EXCLUSIVE] New Taco Joint Coming to Decatur

A new location of Rusty Taco is coming to Decatur.  The Texas-born chain, previously owned by Atlanta-based Inspire Brands, is slated to be among the first retail tenants in the new 194 unit Modera Decatur (163 Clairemont Avenue) mid-rise multifamily development at the corner of Clairemont Avenue and Commerce Avenue, close to downtown Decatur.  The new restaurant will be roughly 2,600 square feet and include an outdoor patio, too.

[UPDATE] Phipps Plaza Lands Balmain Boutique, Expects Food Hall to Debut in April

Phipps Plaza recently confirmed a host of new retailers it has added to its luxury lineup.  Nearly all of the stores Phipps Plaza owner Simon confirmed were those ToNeTo Atlanta had previously reported, with the addition of French fashion house Balmain, which will make its metro Atlanta debut.

[ALERT] Crate & Barrel Opening New Outlet Store in Metro Atlanta

Home furnishings retailer Crate & Barrel will later this week open a new outlet store in metro Atlanta.  The store, located at 5300 Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee, will occupy a freestanding former Office Depot which has sat vacant since the office supply store closed in 2021.  The new store will be the first in metro Atlanta for the Northbrook, Illinois-based retailer.

[UPDATE] Tuesday Morning Files For Bankruptcy, Shutting More Than Half its Stores

Tuesday evening brought sad news to fans of retailer Tuesday Morning.  The Dallas, Texas-based retailer, which earlier Tuesday filed for bankruptcy for the second time in less than three years, confirmed to customers Tuesday evening that they are closing nearly 300 stores including twelve in Georgia.  

[UPDATE] New King's Hawaiian Restaurant to Debut this Spring

This past November we shared news that the owners of King's Hawaiian were planning to open a new restaurant, then referred to as "Project Ohana," in the greater metro Atlanta area.  Today we are pleased to share that the company has revealed both the restaurant's name: "Hello Hilo" and its expected opening: "late spring."  The restaurant will be located on the corner of Limestone and Jesse Jewell Parkways (1881 Jesse Jewell Parkway) in Gainesville.

[UPDATE] Bed Bath & Beyond Closing Five More Georgia Stores

Bed Bath & Beyond has announced another round of store closings, including five more in Georgia.  In the coming weeks, Bed Bath & Beyond stores in Brunswick, Canton, Cumming, Duluth, and Gainesville are all slated to close in addition to the previously announced closure in Buckhead.  Given our coverage area is primarily metro Atlanta, the Duluth location is the one we are most familiar with, but all locations seem to be located in significant shopping centers in their respective markets, according to data we reviewed.

[CLOSURE ALERT] Joella's Jettisons Another Atlanta Area Restaurant

Joella’s Hot Chicken, a Louisville-based, fast-casual restaurant featuring hot chicken, has closed its third Atlanta area location.  The latest closure, like the two which closed before it this past December, occupied a former Pollo Tropical.  Located at 2955 Cobb Parkway, Joella's was situated in an outparcel of Akers Mill Square shopping center, not far from Cumberland Mall.  

[OPENING ALERT] "The Last True Chicken Sandwich" Coming to Dunwoody

SUPER CHIX, which this past March opened their first Georgia restaurant at The Avenue Peachtree City in Peachtree City, will later this month enter the metro with an outpost at Perimeter Marketplace in Dunwoody.  The upstart chain, which calls themselves the "the anti-chainy chain," will occupy a 2,800 square foot space in the new Publix-anchored center.  ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported on the planned opening this past May.

[EXCLUSIVE] Krystal To Open New Drive Thru Only Restaurant in Atlanta

Burger chain Krystal will for the first in time in several years open a new restaurant in metro Atlanta.  The new location, planned for 3050 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in southwest Atlanta, will open in an undeveloped, approximately half acre outparcel of West Ridge shopping center just off exit 9 of I-285.  The roughly 1,300 square foot drive-thru only restaurant will be situated in front of center anchor Wayfield Foods.

[UPDATE] Cava Closes Two More Zoes Kitchen Restaurants, Files to Go Public

In recent weeks three more Zoes Kitchen restaurants in metro Atlanta have shuttered leaving the chain with just two in the state: Emory and Peachtree City.  The closures, done to make way for conversions to parent company Cava, leave the chain with just thirteen locations nationwide.  The remaining two Atlanta area locations are slated to be converted in the coming months after those in Duluth and Snellville reopen as Cava.

[EXCLUSIVE] New BrandsMart USA Coming to Georgia

Electronics and home appliance retailer BrandsMart USA will later this year open its first new location in Georgia in more than a dozen years.  The new store, planned for Augusta, will open in Augusta Exchange, a large power center along I-20 and Bobby Jones Expressway which was originally developed in 1995.  BrandsMart will occupy a roughly 40,000 square foot space most recently home to Ashley Furniture.
