Speaking as someone who retired from the office products industry, Office Depot's struggles is somewhat poetic justice. Their initial strategy when they entered the market some 40 years ago was to drive every independent office products dealer out of business. I recently visited a store and it was pathetic at what I saw in that it was dirty, disorganized and not to mention expensive. A majority of the employees couldn't tell the difference between a file folder and their elbow. Even buying basic supplies at Publix is cheaper, and that says a lot. Hate to see any business go under, but OD sure screwed up what was once a pretty cool industry. Takin' Care of Business, indeed!
The Office Depot in Buckhead Crossing is/was my store and I hate to lose it there.
Moncrief serving Atlanta "since 1898"???
Many fond memories of the Lindbergh Office Depot. Bought a typewriter there, lots of supplies and got printing made. Likewise similar good memories of Cub Foods. Poor OD just can't catch a break.
Yea I did a double take on 1898 too, but according to their website, Moncrief Furnace Company is founded by Stephen Price Moncrief in 1898 and eventually became the company it is today
I'm hoping the now-empty Chic-Fil-A on Hugh Howell will be replaced by the Arby's that never materialized across the street on Lawrenceville Hwy...
I was just thinking about that Office Depot last week. All the ones around me closed and I remembered that one was still there. I shop at the Staples in Tucker now and it seems to do pretty good business.
That was the first Office Depot I worked at. Let me tell you, what a rush! Sunday mornings, the drag queens would come in and check out the office chairs.
Chick-fil-a owns all locations. That guy is an operator.
Incorrect. Airport locations, for example, are licensed.
I had just bought some office supply type items at Target and Lindbergh when I saw the Office Depot closing sale signs and went in to check it out.
I paid $6.00 for a pack of printer paper at Target. The lower quality paper at Office Depot was $30. A small whiteboard and pack of pens were twice as expensive at OD.
Sounds like they became "approved vendors" for offices and ran with it.
Incorrect. Incorrect.
I hope its Hardee’s! Big Shef.
"Chick-fil-A licensing opportunities are available to licensed food service providers and self-operated food service providers in university and college campuses, airports, healthcare facilities, or business and industry venues. Licensing opportunities are not available to individuals."
You also cant sell a license or a location that you operate. If you cant sell it, you have no equity and therefore you dont "own" it.
Incorrect. Incorrect.

Fond memories of visiting an Office Depot? Someone needs to get a life!
Sad to see Moncrief being bought out. It was the only HVAC company I called when I owned a house in Martin's Landing
