[OPENING ALERT] Expanded and Elevated Mediterranean Eatery Reopens in Midtown

Agora Mediterranean Cuisine quietly re-opened in Midtown this week a little more than a year after it closed to renovate and expand.  The Mediterranean eatery today occupies not only its former space but also the former Arden's Garden next door.  The restaurant, located at 92 Peachtree Place, is now about double its former size and offers a full bar, an expanded menu, additional seating in their full-service dining room, and weekend brunch!

Mehmet "Memo" Ozelci, son of restaurant founders Al and Sibel Ozelci, wanted to elevate the Agora experience and to do so he traveled to Turkey to bring back not only much of the restaurant's new furniture and decor, but also inspiration for new interpretations of the classic Agora menu and even a new chef for the restaurant. Chef Firat Eryilmaz leads the new Agora and has introduced several new menu offerings including several plant-based options such as a mushroom fritter and a new tabouli for the mezze plate.

ToNeTo Atlanta visited the restaurant this past weekend to sample the new brunch and dinner menus and found the traditional "Turkish Breakfast," a spread of Turkish classics and the granola bowl, especially enjoyable.  Friends with whom we dined had high praise for the restaurant's bar program and signature cocktails, offerings that were newly added to the restaurant to bring more life and variety to the dining experience.

Nicole Woodard, who most recently served as manager at Rumi's Kitchen at Avalon, and before that held a managerial position at Ray's on The River, was brought on to lead Agora Midtown.

Recent streetscape enhancements by the Midtown Alliance brought new seating, art and increased pedestrian access to the area around the new Agora.  Next spring, Agora plans to add its own outdoor seating for guests to enjoy the improved area and an alfresco meal.

Another change is the addition of a reservation system with Agora partnering with Resy to handle bookings at the Midtown restaurant.

The new Agora is open seven days a week, offering lunch during the week from 11 to 3 and dinner nightly from 5 to 10.  Brunch is offered Saturday and Sunday from 11-3.

Are you excited for the reopening of Agora in Midtown?  Have you already been to the new Agora? What is your favorite Mediterranean dish?

Agora is good! I’ve always patronized the one on. I think in the middle of the streets of Buckhead (whatever the name of the day is today or tomorrow it changes so often) I would think in this other location that has an elevated experience. It might even be better than the one in Buckhead. I will have to try it
