[OPENING ALERT] Raising Cane's to Open in Snellville in October

ToNeTo Atlanta has been your number one source for news on the Atlanta market entry of Raising Cane's.  We are pleased now to share that the new Raising Cane's on Scenic Highway in Snellville is slated to open August 20 September 10 October 8.

The restaurant, at 1416 Scenic Highway, is situated on the north end of a development that in recent months has also welcomed Whataburger, City Barbeque and Miller's Ale House.

The Snellville location marks the third Raising Cane's in Gwinnett County

ToNeTo Atlanta first reported on the Baton Rouge-based chain's plans to open in metro Atlanta in December 2021 when we exclusively reported on the Raising Cane's planned for Buford Drive near the Mall of Georgia in Buford.  After several delays, the Buford restaurant at 3300 Buford Drive - built on the site of a former Arby's, finally opened this past August.  Although announced second, a location on Braselton Highway in Dacula actually opened first, having debuted last March.   A third Raising Cane's along Highway 92 in Woodstock debuted this past February.

The company will reportedly conduct a "First 100" style promotion to celebrate the Snellville opening.  The first 100 people age thirteen or older at the restaurant on opening day who purchase a combo meal will receive a complimentary Raising Cane's T-shirt.  Of those first 100 guests, the "Lucky 20" will be randomly selected to receive "Free Cane's for a Year," which equates to three free combo meals per month for a year, a value of roughly $450.

ToNeTo Atlanta readers in Snellville report the restaurant has seemingly been done for more than a month and it's unclear why the opening is not happening sooner.

Despite the fact that the restaurant has yet to open, SRS Real Estate Partners is already marketing the Snellville Raising Cane's for sale with an asking price of $4.334M for the roughly 2,800 square foot restaurant.

Other upcoming locations include those planned for Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth where the chain is replacing a former Steak 'n Shake and on Jonesboro Road in McDonough where Raising Cane's is replacing a former O'Charley's.

Raising Cane's is also hoping to open a new location along Ashford Dunwoody Road, not far from Perimeter Mall, in Dunwoody.

For those unfamiliar - aka non "Caniacs," of which there don't seem to be many, Raising Cane's features a very simple menu with a focus on fried chicken tenders.  Menu offerings also include a fried chicken sandwich, crinkle-cut fries, Texas Toast, and coleslaw, an item famously eliminated from the menu at rival Chick-fil-A in early 2016.

University of Georgia graduate Todd Graves, along with his business partner Craig Silvey, opened the first Raising Cane's in Baton Rouge near the LSU campus in 1996.  Graves, who worked for Guthrie's (which proudly claims to be "America's Original Chicken Finger Restaurant") while in school in Athens, would later return to the Classic City in 2006 when he opened a new Raising Cane's on land that had been home to Guthrie's from 1984 until its closure in 2004.

Ranked by Average Unit Volume (AUV), Raising Cane's is typically second, just behind Chick-fil-A.  In 2023, the company surpassed 700 Raising Cane's restaurants across 37 states.  In 2022, the company said it planned to open at least ten locations in Georgia in the coming years.

*Please note that according to a source at Raising Cane's  the September 10 opening date is subject to change.*

Are you excited for the opening of Raising Cane's in metro Atlanta?  Who do you think makes the best chicken tenders?  Where else in metro Atlanta would you like to see Raising Cane's open?

Yikes. That location has been coming soon for several months now. Not sure the hype of that brand will save it when it's right next to a Whataburger with Chick-Fil-A, Culver's and Zaxby's a couple blocks down the road.

I have nothing against Canes, I tried them before, but I like Hughey McGoos Chicken Fingers better. Their chicken is very tender and juicy, easy to chew whereas Canes Fingers sometimes are a little on the tough side requiring a little effort to bite through them.
