Burtons Grill & Bar, a "polished casual" restaurant, will mark its official Atlanta debut next month in Buckhead. The new restaurant is opening at 3330 Piedmont Road at Buckhead Landing (AKA the old "Disco Kroger" shopping center) in a 5,740 square foot endcap space once home to Chase Bank and before that, WaMu (Washington Mutual).
The Buckhead restaurant, which ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported on last June, features 268 interior seats, including a 30-seat bar & 26-seat private dining room, and additional seating for 63 guests on an outdoor patio.
Burtons at Buckhead Landing is slated to open Thursday, November 7, already a special day in our world, as it's our editor Shelley's birthday!
Voted "#1 most allergy-friendly restaurant" 2017-2020 by AllergyEats, Burtons prides itself on accommodating food allergies, sensitivities to gluten, and vegetarian, paleo and other diets. The restaurant has been described as "Houston's-like" and features a menu centered on burgers, steaks, salads and seafood. Burtons will no doubt look to capture some of the business left behind by BrickTop's, another Houston's-like concept which previously closed in the bottom of Terminus, a stone's throw from Buckhead Landing.
Several of Burtons' co-founders were involved with Outback Steakhouse in the 1990s, including venture capitalist Don Burton, himself an early investor in Outback and the man who gave the restaurant its name. The original founders sold the business in 2022 to a new group of investors who installed John Haggai, another former Outback Steakhouse alum, as CEO.
Renovations at Buckhead Landing are nearly complete with leasing materials suggesting that the center has just three spaces available for lease. The biggest arrival at the center will be a new roughly 54,000 square foot Publix grocery store which is replacing the "Disco Kroger" that closed at the end of 2022 after nearly 50 years in business. The new Publix, on which ToNeTo Atlanta was first to report in 2021, is expected to open in early December, according to a Publix employee at one of the grocer's other Buckhead stores.
Golf Galaxy, a large format golf retailer and subsidiary of Dick's Sporting Goods, opened in the former World Market space in Buckhead Landing in July. Aviva by Kameel, the popular Mediterranean eatery with existing locations in Midtown and Downtown, is slated to open by the end of October. Handel's, a new to market ice cream shop, baby and kids retailer Carter's, and upscale Japanese restaurant Omakase Table are also slated to open in the center soon.
The new tenants join popular existing ones such as Jamison Shaw Hairdressers, Urban Wu, Binders Art Supplies & Frames and Piu Bello, among others.
Have you ever been to Burtons Grill & Bar? Do you think Burtons Grill & Bar will do well in Buckhead? Does the idea of a restaurant that caters to specific dietary needs interest you?

I know, every thing and every one is so dumb, right?
I'm allergic to not having hookah. Will they accommodate me?
Not doubt you'll get your hookah there. If not right of the bat, soon thereafter.
A Hookah Deli in the ATL. I think you're on to something.
So dumb, right? Should be Alex’s Place with spaghetti and poop
I will place on top of my list of restaurants to visit. My family last name 🫶🏽
What’s the issue with being inclusive of allergens? Bizarre that this bothers you
