Nearly one year after opening, plant-based restaurant PLANTA Queen is for sale in Buckhead. The restaurant, the Asian influenced sibling of fellow plant based eatery Planta, opened in Buckhead Village District (3013 Bolling Way) December 26, 2023, and was listed for sale Monday night by local Atlanta brokerage The Shumacher Group.
According to the listing from broker Steve Josovitz, the restaurant's name, trademarks, intellectual property, staff, menu, books, and records are not included in the sale. The listing does indicate, however, that a management and culinary team is "in place."
We here at ToNeTo Atlanta have adopted a largely plant-based diet and have found our visits to PLANTA Queen enjoyable, but often noticed the restaurant less full than one might expect. The space was not a converted former restaurant but was instead freshly built out for PLANTA Queen, with a modern, chic interior.
Situated behind Le Bilboquet, the restaurant likely suffered from limited visibility in addition to not being near the "action" of the center.
The sales listing indicates that the owners of PLANTA Queen spent $3.3 million on "opening costs" related to the "state-of-the-art space." The restaurant totals 4,000 square feet with seating for 100 guests plus some outdoor seating, too.
Founder and CEO Steven Salm and Co-founder and Executive Chef David Lee created PLANTA in 2016. In the years since, the duo has expanded it to more than a dozen restaurants and multiple concepts spread across New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, and DMV (D.C. Maryland & Virginia). Florida is the group's biggest market, with seven restaurants, including three under the "Planta Burger" banner.
PLANTA Queen's listing comes on the heels of the recent closure of Georgetown Cupcake after ten years in business in the center as well as the closure of the short-lived Pachengo's earlier this summer.
Would-be replacements are invited to keep the cuisine the same or convert it to any landlord [Jamestown] approved concept.
PLANTA Queen is signed to a ten year lease with a five year renewal option. Monthly "all-in" rent comes in at a breathtaking $18,000, with the restaurant being offered for sale for $550,000.

Heartbroken to hear to hear this! I love visiting Planta Queen.
Tick tock tick tock……waiting for the racist imbecile with the eek ook aak mocking talk to make his stupid comment.
Wow…was just there Thursday night, and the place was empty save for 2 or 3 couples and one guy eating by himself. No one at the bar…thought to myself, "There is no way this place is going to make it."
It's a Plant-Based restaurant. How much more of a clue do you need?
Saw it for the first time waiting for our car at the valet after another delicious dinner at Bilboquet. Couldn't figure out whether it was supposed to be a bar or a restaurant, or what in the world it might serve. That could have been an issue.
