[ALERT] Raising Cane's to Debut in Duluth February, McDonough in March

More than sixteen months after our original report and weeks after the restaurant appeared complete, a new Raising Cane's is finally set to open in Duluth.  The new restaurant, located at 2110 Pleasant Hill Road, replaced a former Steak 'n Shake that was demolished to make way for the new chicken joint.

The new Raising Cane's, the fifth in metro Atlanta for the Dallas-based chicken chain, is slated to open Tuesday February 25, according to employees at the restaurant.  The new Cane's joins other units that have opened in recent years in Dacula, Buford, Woodstock and Snellville.  The company also operates a restaurant in Athens.

The new Duluth restaurant opens as several retailers are exiting the market.  ToNeTo Atlanta reported January 9 that Macy's and Kohl's are both closing their Duluth stores in the coming weeks.  Bankrupt party supply retailer Party City announced shortly before Christmas that it will be closing all of its stores including one in Duluth near the intersection of Pleasant Hill Road and Satellite Boulevard.

That said, Raising Cane's will be joined in the area by a new Whataburger and a rebuilt Chick-fil-A.

In addition to the aforementioned locations, ToNeTo Atlanta previously reported that Raising Cane's is also opening new restaurants in McDonough, Kennesaw, Conyers, Cumming, Buckhead and West Midtown.

The McDonough unit - 1842 Jonesboro Road - replaced a former O'Charley's, and is currently on track to open Tuesday March 11, according to the Raising Cane's website.  The other locations are expected to open in phases over the next twelve months or so.  A location previously planned for Dunwoody has reportedly been shelved indefinitely.

Have you been to Raising Cane's?  What chicken chain do you think delivers the best overall experience?  Where else in metro Atlanta would you like to see Raising Cane's open?

Please share your thoughts below.

I think they'll do well in all places except Buckhead and West Midtown. Bummed to hear Dunwoody was shelved but that area is already very saturated.

A restaurant based on food served to children by lazy parents who don't know to cook. A sad state of affairs as we became a chicken fingers nation.

While I understand the desire to put a restaurant up in this area, I think this particular spot is just terrible. Whoever created the original layout and design for this road in front of Gwinnett Place Mall - and thought that having a stoplight every 100 feet to ensure maximum entrance to the mall was the only good idea - has hopefully been fired from every planning job they took after that one. It's just a mess. So hopefully Cane's can get some decent money out of this location for a few years, but good luck with that, because this particular spot is pretty awful.
