[EXCLUSIVE] Billion Dollar Bundt Cake Franchise Coming to East Cobb

A new location of Nothing Bundt Cakes is coming to East Cobb.  The bundt cake franchise is slated to join Whole Foods, Kohl's, and DSW in the Merchants Walk shopping center at 1281 Johnson Ferry Road.

The new Nothing Bundt Cakes is opening in a 1,350 square foot space within a multi-tenant outparcel also home to Chipotle and previously home to Mirko.  Interestingly, Nothing Bundt Cakes is replacing what was most recently a franchise of Duck Donuts which was before that a franchise of Gigi's Cupcakes.  (A Shake Shack was slated to replace both the Mirko space and the Duck Donuts space but that deal fell through.)

Nothing Bundt Cakes features classic Bundt cakes, Bundlets, personal Bundt cakes, and even smaller Bundtinis, sold only by the dozen.  The shops also feature gluten-free options in select flavors.

The company was started by Debbie Shwetz and Dena Tripp in Las Vegas in 1997 and is today based in Addison, Texas.  Then 390 unit Nothing Bundt Cakes was acquired by Atlanta-based Roark Capital Group in May 2021.  The franchise doubled under Roark's ownership to nearly 800 units and was sold this past May to fellow private equity firm KKR for $2 Billion.  Plans call for the franchise to reach 1,000 units in 2027.

According to their website, the franchise has 38 units Georgia, of which about twenty are in metro Atlanta.  Current area locations include those in Sandy Springs, Roswell, Tucker, and Kennesaw. One of the chain's newest locations in metro Atlanta debuted in May 2025 at Peachtree Battle shopping center in Buckhead.

Are you pleased to see Nothing Bundt Cakes opening in East Cobb?  Do you think Nothing Bundt Cakes will succeed where Gigi's Cupcakes and Duck Donuts failed?  What other eateries would you like to see open in East Cobb?

Love Nothing Bundt Cakes. Especially their Bundtinis. I live near the Tucker Location. They seem to do a good business!!

OMG they are good but nothing fantastic and overpriced. Hopefully Burger King will open in the old Wendy's across the street.

Wishing for a Burger King to open is the epitome of pathetic.

Decatur location next to Walmart is only a couple of months old, much newer than the cited May 2025 "newest locations".

@ 11:10 AM. Totally agree. Who wants a Burger King? We need something substantial. I would like to see a Hardee's or a Hooters open there.

A Hardee's or Hooter's?! I just had Hardee's last weekend and it was PURE GARBAGE TRASH. Got a free entree for signing up for their rewards club and I threw away the tenders I got. Burger was hot garbage. And Hooter's is on the way out. Why on earth would you suggest those to, but lambast the Burger King suggestion? Their burgers are better than Hardee's!

Would a checkers go well in this spot instead of a Burger King? I love checkers and think the community would like it as well

Well, it’s an awkward location as you don’t see it from the street. Considering people seek this particular bakery out as it is the only type of its kind. This seems like it might be a destination location. Everybody loves something new for the first month or two. There’s an expensive bakery around the corner Giulia’s and they seem to be doing well. So maybe there is a place for this
