[EXCLUSIVE] Raising Cane's Cancels Intown Location

As ToNeTo Atlanta continues to be your number one source for updates on the Atlanta market expansion of Raising Cane's, we must share that one of our previously reported locations is no longer moving forward.  

A new Raising Cane's was planned for 4475 Roswell Road in Chastain Park where it was to replace the former longtime Three Dollar Cafe that relocated to the former Snooze in Chastain Market earlier this year. 

Two sources with intimate knowledge of the transaction tell ToNeTo Atlanta that the growing chicken chain has abandoned their plans for the former Three Dollar site for unspecified reasons.   

Despite this development, the chain is still moving forward with several other Atlanta area locations.  

ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported in November 2024 that Raising Cane's plans to open new locations on Piedmont Road in Buckhead and on 14th Street in West Midtown, where in both cases, the chain is replacing former Krystal restaurants. The Piedmont and 14th Street restaurants are finally under construction, with a company representative telling ToNeTo Atlanta that both are slated for 2027 openings.  

On July 27, we exclusively reported on the planned Raising Cane's on Johnson Ferry Road in East Cobb which is still moving forward.  

Previously with just one Georgia location in Athens, Raising Cane's has in recent years opened several new locations throughout the greater Atlanta area, and now has more than a dozen in the state.  

ToNeTo Atlanta has reported on several other upcoming Cane's locations, including the aforementioned Buckhead and West Midtown units, as well as others planned for Smyrna and Valdosta.   

For those unfamiliar - aka non-"Caniacs" - of which there don't seem to be many, Raising Cane's features a very simple menu with a focus on fried chicken fingers. Menu offerings also include a fried chicken sandwich, crinkle-cut fries, Texas Toast, coleslaw, and not much else.  University of Georgia graduate Todd Graves, along with his business partner Craig Silvey opened the first Raising Cane's in Baton Rouge near the LSU campus in 1996.   

Earlier this year, the company surpassed 1,000 Raising Cane's restaurants across 44 states, plus Guam and Washington D.C.
