German Cafe & Bakery on White Road, just off Lawrenceville-Highway, has  "temporarily closed for renovation."  I first heard of the closure a few weeks ago and went by for myself to check it out. The space looks as though it was abandoned with no sign of an imminent reopening.

A new Hardee's is coming soon to Cobb Parkway & Jim Owens Road in Kennesaw.  Hardee's along with west coast sibling eatery Carl's Jr., were purchased last year by Atlanta-based Roark Capital Group with news the chain would be re-entering the metro Atlanta area following the purchase.  Hardee's began in 1960 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and once had numerous Atlanta area locations, few of which are still present today.

For the first time in recent memory, a new Church's Chicken is being built from the ground up in Georgia.  The new restaurant will open at the corner of Shorter Avenue and N. Hanks Street in Rome.  Just over a mile away, a new Cook-Out will open this month on Martha Berry Boulevard.

Andy Alibaksh of Diem Restaurant Group plans to open Tapa Tapa, a new restaurant, in the former Royal Orchid at Midtown Promenade on Monroe Drive in Midtown.

Chipotle Mexican Grill has opened its newest location at Fashion Cafe in Lenox Square. Fittingly, the new restaurant  opened on Cinco de Mayo, and was already drawing large lines at the lunch and dinner hours.
