Bits & Bites

Freshii remains closed in the Fashion Cafe at Lenox Square with no signs of life / reopening anytime soon, if ever.  The healthy fast food eatery opened in the mall in March but had not done especially well.  The food was good but seemingly priced too high for the casual food court diner.  With burritos that exceeded $10, Freshii priced themselves above similar offerings of burrito juggernaut Chipotle Mexican Grill.  A leak that reportedly originated at California Pizza Kitchen surely also played a part in the  restaurant's closure.  As of this week, it appeared as though water was still leaking from the ceiling above Freshii.

A Look Back at Old Hickory House .

One  Dunwoody neighbor makes clear what he DOESN'T want in place of Old Hickory House
Dunwoody recently witnessed the closure of one of the oldest restaurants in metro Atlanta.  Old Hickory House on Chamblee-Dunwoody Road had been a landmark for decades but abruptly closed about a week ago.  The restaurant, which served breakfast, lunch and dinner, posted a sign saying it was closed temporarily "for renovations," but sources at Old Hickory House in Tucker indicate the closure is permanent.

Pollo Tropical plans to build a new freestanding restaurant in an outparcel of Brookwood Square in Austell.  The new 4000 square foot restaurant will be built  close to the former Home Depot, along the East-West Connector.  The former Home Depot space will reportedly be split into two spaces. An LA Fitness is "proposed" for a 45,000 square foot portion of the roughly 70,000 square foot space.  Pollo Tropical already has five locations open in Georgia with an additional location under construction in Johns Creek.
