[EXCLUSIVE] Something Brewing in East Cobb

A growing coffee shop has its sights set on Georgia.  Scooter's Coffee, which currently has two locations in the greater metro Atlanta area, will open its newest location at 2197 Roswell Road in East Cobb.  The new coffee shop will be located in an outparcel of the center currently known as Marshalls at Eastlake.  We say currently, as namesake anchor Marshalls will relocate to nearby Merchants Walk later this fall, leaving its 27,000 square foot space vacant.

According to planning documents, the new Scooter's will be 664 square feet and occupy about a third of an acre in place of what is currently parking.  The project, described as a "kiosk building," will feature exclusively drive-thru service, but will provide a total of nine parking spaces.

ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported in December that Starbucks plans to open in place of the former Powerco Federal Credit Union in the center adjacent to Marshalls, East Lake shopping center, now anchored by Harbor Freight.

Scooter's Coffee entered the Atlanta market with a location at West Crossville Road and Crossway Lane in Roswell, which opened in late 2015.  A second area location, at the corner of Canton and Piedmont Roads, opened during the summer of 2016.

The company, which was established in Bellevue, Nebraska in 1998 and is now headquartered in Omaha, announced plans this past February to open a 40,000 square foot distribution center in Hapeville that will fuel its continued expansion in Georgia and across the southeast.

The pandemic caused basically all restaurant operators to re-think their operations and evaluate ways to incorporate drive-thru functionality into their businesses. Dunkin' will soon unveil a Dunkin' Go drive-thru only (DTO) unit on Roswell Road in Chastain Park.  For its part, Scooter's seems perhaps best prepared to take advantage of small spaces given its drive-thru only format is not new, but something the company has been successful with for years.

Have you ever been to Scooter's Coffee?  What is your favorite coffee shop in metro Atlanta?  Where else would you like to see Scooter's Coffee open?

boooo. We need a third wave coffee shop. No more supersized american fast food coffee. Nothing against it, but it's diluted and frankly we have enough already
