[ALERT] Popular Meat Shop Suspending Retail Operations Less Than Two Years After Reopening

Patak Meat Products, a manufacturer of fine European meats and sausages, announced February 13 that it is suspending its retail store operations.  The company referred to the closure as "temporary" but gave no indication as to when or if the retail store would reopen.  As of now the store is slated to close as of March 1.  

[OPENING] Metro Atlanta to See Pair of New Nordstrom Rack Stores Debut in March

It's been over a year since ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported on Nordstrom Rack's planned expansion in metro Atlanta.  The wait for more stores is now just weeks away! New Nodstrom Rack stores are slated to open in Snellville in early March and in Kennesaw in late March.

[UPDATE] RaceTrac Shutters Downtown Store After Latest Shooting

After a string of violent incidents, RaceTrac has decided to close its short-lived Downtown Atlanta location.  Situated at the corner of Piedmont and John Wesley Dobbs Avenues in the street level of The Mix student housing development (120 Piedmont Avenue), the small format, eight fuel pump RaceTrac opened in late 2019 and marked the Atlanta-based fuel provider's first "non-traditional brick and mortar" location.

[UPDATE] HomeGoods Sets Opening Date for Significant Sandy Springs Store

A little more than eight months after our original report, a new HomeGoods is coming to Sandy Springs.  Newly updated signage and the HomeGoods website confirm that the new HomeGoods in Hammond Exchange shopping center is due to open on Thursday, February 29.  The new store spans more than 31,000 square feet, making it one of retailer's largest in metro Atlanta.

[ALERT] New Burger and Barbeque Joints Planned for Suburban Property

A pair of new restaurants are planned for Acworth.  Planning documents suggest and a city representative confirmed that new locations of both City Barbeque and Whataburger are planned for 3574 Cobb Parkway NW, just north of its intersection with Mars Hill Road in Acworth.

[CLOSURE ALERT] Popular Mediterranean Eatery Shutters in Chastain Park

Mediterranean fast casual eatery Sahara Cafe has closed its outpost in Chastain Park after nearly four years in business.  The restaurant, located at 4285 Roswell Road in the Publix-anchored Chastain Square shopping center, opened in June 2020 and closed as of February 19, according to co-owner Hussein Hussein.  A sibling location that opened this past September near North Point Mall in Alpharetta remains opens.

Atlanta could soon get an exciting new grocer.  Grocery Outlet, a discount grocer currently found primarily on the West Coast where the company is based, this past week announced it had acquired United Grocery Outlet, a similar but smaller chain based in Athens, Tennessee.

A chain many may not realize is still as substantial as it is will soon add another Atlanta area restaurant.  Quick-serve seafood eatery Captain D's plans to open in a new restaurant in place of a former Hardee's at 3056 Jodeco Road in McDonough, officially in the Stockbridge city limits.

The wait is nearly over.  After several unspecified setbacks, the newest local outpost of  The Salty is expected to open Friday, February 23 at Star Metals in West Midtown.  The new outpost is the third in Atlanta for the growing Florida-based chain.

A chicken chain that recently opened a satellite office in Atlanta's trendy West Midtown now has a new CEO.  Krispy Krunchy Chicken, the largest chicken chain you've never heard of, Tuesday named industry veteran Jim Norberg as its new CEO with outgoing CEO Dan Shapiro remaining with the company as its Chairman of the Board of Directors.

In a surprise move, a restaurant already successful OTP is coming ITP for its newest location.  According to a source familiar with the restaurant's plans, Novo Cucina, a popular restaurant from chef Ricardo Ullio, has leased the prized two-story restaurant space at the corner of Clairmont and Briarcliff Roads, developed as part of the new Lumen Briarcliff (3070 Briarcliff Road) multifamily project.

[WOOF!] Chewy Looks to Bring Customer-Centric Focus to Crowded Vet Care Business

Popular online pet food and related products retailer Chewy announced this past December that it was getting into the vet care business.   At the time of the new business announcement, officially "Chewy Vet Care," Chewy indicated the first facility would open in Plantation, Florida, where it is headquartered  ToNeTo Atlanta has now confirmed that the company will also open two locations in metro Atlanta.

As much as they might hate to admit it, our earlier report has proven accurate, and it seems Simon is starting to see the error of their ways and has quietly switched out a bland out of town coffee shop for a local operator at their floundering Citizens Culinary Market at Phipps Plaza.   Cultivate Food + Coffee has replaced Ella Mia in Citizens and is likely the first of many such moves for the struggling operation.

[OPENING ALERT] Raising Cane's to Debut Latest Atlanta Area Location This Month

Raising Cane's is slated to open its latest metro Atlanta location in February.  The new restaurant, on which ToNeTo Atlanta first reported October 2022, is opening at 9893 Hwy 92 in Woodstock.  Raising Cane's redeveloped two parcels to make way for their roughly 2,700 square foot restaurant.  The primary parcel was most recently home to a Velox insurance office but was built as Mrs. Winner's Chicken & Biscuits.

[CLOSURE ALERT] Marietta Magic Shop Reveals Plans to Disappear For Good

Eddie's Trick Shop announced this week they are closing after nearly 50 years in business. The shop, currently located on the Marietta Square, sells costumes, novelties, clown, and magic merchandise, and is currently offering nearly all merchandise at 60 percent off.  The store's "closing sale" is expected to run for the next two weeks, but the store could close sooner depending on sales velocity.

[UPDATE] Popular Arizona Restaurant, Bar and Music Establishment Debuting in Dunwoody This Month

A second Atlanta area location of Culinary Dropout is slated to open later this month in Dunwoody.  The new restaurant is opening in former retail space in the Super Target-anchored Ashford Lane (formerly Perimeter Place) shopping center.  Culinary Dropout joins several other restaurants located at "The Lawn," a now pedestrian only quadrant of the project that is today home to greenspace, water features, outdoor seating, and more.
