It looks like Jeremy Gatto is returning to his old BeltLine stomping grounds. Coming soon signage for "Pizza Dynamo" went up in recent days outside Pour Taproom along the Atlanta BeltLine's Eastside Trail.
According to Jeremy Gatto's LinkedIn page, he was Director of Operations for Nina+Rafi and other Billy Streck-owned concepts from November 2021 until February 2023. Nina+Rafi first opened in November 2018 when Streck partnered with Anthony Spina.
ToNeTo Atlanta first broke the news April 22 that Nina+Rafi had been sold and that a new location of Eclipse di Luna would open in its place.
Pizza Jeans is another Gatto-owned concept with locations in Ponce City Market in Atlanta and Citizens Market at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. The "Jeans" in Pizza Jeans stands for Just Eat A New York Slice, but there is no indication that "Dynamo" stands for anything.
Gatto is also opening another Pizza Dynamo in Jacksonville, where it will join an upcoming Pour Taproom as part of a single space within the VyStar Credit Union parking garage in Downtown Jacksonville. Preliminary renderings suggest the original plan was for the Jacksonville restaurant to carry the Pizza Jeans name, but that things changed, and Pizza Dynamo was born.
Gatto told the Jacksonville Daily Record that he and his partners changed their minds “at the 25th hour.” The primary differences between the two pizzerias [Pizza Jeans and Pizza Dynamo] are the flour used to make dough and the tomatoes, which Gatto said have a "completely different flavor palate.”
Gatto also operates another differently named but similar eatery, Luca's Brooklyn Pizzeria, with locations in the Politan Row food hall at Colony Square in Midtown and at Halidom Eatery, another food hall, in East Atlanta.
Pizza Dynamo Jacksonville is slated to open in early June, whereas the timetable for the opening along the BeltLine in Atlanta is further out.
Are you pleased to see pizza returning to this stretch of the Atlanta BeltLine? Who in Atlanta do you think offers the best pizza by the slice? What is your favorite pizza topping?
