After months of delays of various kinds, Fire Hen is now open in Buckhead Village.  The restaurant, located at the corner of Cains Hills Place and Irby Avenue adjacent to Woody's CheeseSteaks, serves a variety of items including rotisserie chicken, vegetable and meat hand pies, as well as assorted sides and desserts.

VF Corporation Monday announced plans to acquire popular streetwear brand Supreme for $2.1 billion.  The deal, which Denver-based VF indicated would close by the end of the year, nearly matches the firm's $2.2 billion 2011 acquisition of Timberland.  The company, which moved its corporate headquarters from Greensboro, NC to Denver in 2018, also owns Vans, The North Face and JanSport, among other brands.

Gyu-Kaku, the popular Japanese BBQ chain, will open their first Atlanta area restaurant later today at Atlantic Station in Midown.   The restaurant, which replaced a large portion of the former Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro, will soft open tonight for dinner only starting at 6PM with the last seating at 8:15PM.  The corporately owned restaurant plans to add both lunch service and longer hours after the new year.

Calhoun-based outdoor retailer RAK Outfitters will open its first ITP location later this month at Lenox Square in Buckhead.  The roughly 2,000 square foot store will open on the mall's main level, adjacent to Sprinkles Cupcakes, in a space previously home to Sperry TopSider.  RAK has five existing Georgia locations in Calhoun, Fort Oglethorpe, Woodstock, Kennesaw and Dalton.  Sources say the current plan is to have the store open next Friday, March 30.  

[Quiet Closure] Montie's Public House Has Closed in Brookhaven

Montie's Public House quietly closed early this month after about nine and a half years in business.  The restaurant, located on Buford Highway at Corporate Boulevard in Brookhaven, first opened as Zuffy's Place in August 2008 before rebranding as Montie's Public House in late 2013.  Both restaurants trace their roots to Fuzzy's Place, a longstanding restaurant on North Druid Hills Road near Buford Highway that closed in late 2007.

Greenwood’s on Green Street and Swallow at the Hollow Shutter in Roswell

The AJC reports that longtime Roswell restaurants Greenwood’s on Green Street and Swallow at the Hollow both closed December 31.  The closures, which were not announced and are not mentioned on the restaurant's Facebook page, were confirmed via a recorded phone message at both restaurants.  

Arby's Thinking Coke in 2018

The Coca-Cola Company has won the contract to sell soft drinks at quick-serve chain Arby’s.  The contract is a coup for the Atlanta-based beverage giant as they unseated their rival PepsiCo Inc. in the process.   The deal will add more than 3,200 Arby’s locations to Coca-Cola’s portfolio of restaurant clients.

Metro Atlanta's newest Burger 21 restaurant plans to open Monday February 6th in Kennesaw Marketplace.  The Tampa based chain has existing Atlanta area locations in Kennesaw, Buckhead and Buford by the Mall of Georgia.  A Snellville location "temporarily closed" this past August after three months in business, but has yet to reopen.  The new Kennesaw unit sports a new logo for the brand and two Coca-Cola Freestyle units.

New aloft hotel starting to take shape 

Atlanta's first aloft hotel is delayed again, and now plans to open in April.  The former Day's Inn hotel was completely gutted to make way for the new chic hotel, and it is finally starting to take shape.  The hotel was first announced last summer with plans to open this past spring.  The opening was then pushed to this coming January, but is now set for April 3, 2014, a date I'm now told should be final.
