Nike has closed its two "Live" stores in metro Atlanta.  The stores - located in Ponce City Market in Atlanta and Avalon in Alpharetta - opened in November and December 2021, respectively.

[ALERT] Alo Yoga Opening This Week at Avalon, This Fall at Perimeter Mall and Ponce City Market

Alo Yoga, a Los Angeles-based athletic apparel company, plans to quadruple its presence in Atlanta by the end of the year.  The brand entered the Atlanta market with a shop at Lenox Square in Buckhead in 2023 and will on Friday June 26th officially open its second location at Avalon in Alpharetta.

The former Kroger in Brookhaven which closed this past October will this fall welcome a new tenant.  Compare Foods, a new-to-Atlanta grocer, is to open in place of the former Kroger this coming September, according to sources familiar with the company's plans.

Tucker's Northlake Mall has a new owner and it's not who many might have expected.  The mall, purchased in February 2016 by Dallas-based ATR Corinth Partners, lost its three remaining retail anchors in the years since - Sears (2018), JCPenney (2020) and Macy's (2026) - and redevelopment plans have progressed slower than anyone would have liked.

[ALERT] Barnes & Noble to "Turn the Page" on Metro Store After Thirty Years in Business

Two and half years after ToNeTo Atlanta first reported that a local Barnes & Noble was being replaced by a new RaceTrac, things appear to be moving forward.  Barnes & Noble informed customers Sunday May 31 that their store at 2952 Cobb Parkway near Smyrna is closing August 19.

Patak Meat Products, a manufacturer of fine European meats and sausages, has seemingly closed for good. The family-owned business, a staple in the metro food world for more than forty years, suspended its retail business in early 2024, but had continued wholesale sales.

The Gap store at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody is closing.   The store is not yet advertising the closure nor is there any special sale, but store employees - referring to it as a "soft closing" - indicate that the store is to close sometime in May.

[WOW] Painted Tree Marketplace Abruptly Closes All Stores Including Three in Metro Atlanta

Painted Tree Marketplace abruptly closed all of its more than sixty locations across the country Tuesday.  The Arkansas-based company did not specify a reason for the sudden closures, nor did they give any warning to the thousands of vendors that operated their own small businesses from within Painted Tree stores.

Another Atlanta area location of women's clothing and accessories retailer Talbots is due to close.  The Talbots at Peachtree Battle shopping center is expected to close on April 23 after several decades in business.   Employees at the store indicate that there are currently no plans for any special "liquidation" sale.

An affiliate of Atlanta-based Nam Dae Mun, a chain of international farmers markets, has reportedly purchased Shallowford Exchange shopping center (2562 Shallowford Road) near Chamblee and plans to open a new market in place of the former, roughly 29,000 square foot Publix, which closed after Christmas.
