[EXCLUSIVE] Atlanta Restaurant Group Shutters Five Locations

Atlanta-based Southern Proper Hospitality Group has in recent days closed several restaurants including 40 per cent of its Tin Lizzy's brand.  The closures, most of which took place this week, included a total of five locations across four brands.

The Tin Lizzy's in Dunwoody (121 Perimeter Center W, Suite 150) closed as did the location in the Avenue East Cobb (4475 Roswell Road, #1510) in East Cobb.  Tin Lizzy's Dunwoody and East Cobb opened in August 2012 and October 2016 respectively.  The East Cobb closure also included Tin Pin Game Bar which opened within the existing Tin Lizzy's in January 2024.

Following the closure of these and others previously, including those in Buford, Grant Park, Duluth, Emory Point and Buckhead, Tin Lizzy's will have  just three locations: Downtown Atlanta (Peachtree Center), Midtown (77 12th) and Kennesaw.

The group also closed Chido & Padre’s and The Blind Pig, sibling concepts in Buckhead which shared a freestanding building at 128 East Andrews Drive.  Chidos & Padre's, a "Baja-style" concept, debuted in March 2018 when it replaced barbecue concept Smokebelly, also owned by Southern Proper, which had closed earlier that January.  The Blind Pig, a speakeasy, had operated during both restaurants' tenures.

ToNeTo Atlanta was provided the following statement from a representative of the restaurant group regarding the closures:

"Southern Proper Hospitality Group has made the difficult decision to close several of our concepts, including Tin Lizzy’s Perimeter, Tin Lizzy’s East Cobb, Chido & Padre’s, and The Blind Pig. These restaurants have been meaningful parts of their neighborhoods, and we’re deeply grateful for everyone who has been part of them — our team members and the guests and communities who’ve supported them over the years.

We’re staying closely connected with our team members and supporting them as they explore roles within our other SPHG restaurants. While these locations are closing, some of our concepts — like The Blind Pig — have always been built on creativity and flexibility, and we’ll continue to evaluate how they may evolve within our portfolio over time.

We continue to welcome guests at our remaining restaurants across Atlanta and remain committed to delivering the hospitality and experiences our company is known for."

The group's remaining Atlanta area restaurants include the three aforementioned Tin Lizzy's as well as Gypsy Kitchen, The Southern Gentleman and The Big Ketch in Buckhead, Ocean & Acre in Alpharetta and  Milton's in Milton.  The group also operates a single location of Gypsy Kitchen in Washington D.C.

Are you surprised by which concepts and locations Southern Proper decided to close?  What is your favorite Southern Proper concept?

the food at the east cobb location was really bad. I'm not sure if it always was like this. But we went twice the last couple years. Not good.

Man, the Trump inflation and the Trump economy claim some more victims. Who can stay open with the out of control inflation thanks to the Trump virus and Trump tariffs? This economy is killing small businesses, just as Trump would want

I had no idea they were even still in business

Pour one out for Tin Pin. With Portal going soon too, Pinball in Atlanta is suffering.

As for the Trump derangement syndrome comment, not going there. The food was always very salty. I also had some issues with management about service. There is also stiff competition from similar concepts in each market

I’m shocked it lasted this long.

Portal staying open until August at least.

Sad. Really went downhill similar to Taco Mac. Back in the day, the chicken bacon ranch quesadillas were 🔥

Look, I don’t like Trump but this is a desperate comment. Average inflation in 2025 is down to 2.70% which is less than biden’s average inflation of 4.95%. Fed Rate too has dropped. Biden can be blamed for a good share of his economy during his presidency but part of it was the global impact of the pandemic. The economy is slowly improving with Trump at the helm whether or not you want to believe it.

I can personally attest that both the east cobb and perimeter Tin Lizzy’s location have been almost empty since the pandemic. This isn’t new to 2025.

Tin Lizzy’s was never good. I’m surprised there are any left at all in business. Big Ketch was good years ago but went way downhill.

They are also not keeping in contact with their staff. They didn’t even tell their staff they were closing Chido’s

TinPin was doing well - working on relocation. Stay tuned. thanks for support!

Hey dude @ 7:55 am you can talk numbers all you want, but the EFFECTS are plain as day and in your face. Restaurants are closing. People are pulling back. Read the room. He never did what he promised on Day 1 champ. He failed before he even got started, and if you believe he would do anything for the people, you're mistaken again buddy.

I was surprised to see chidos/blind pig here, they were just posting for Christmas. Loved the blind pig

Glad to see all these closing. Especially Chido and Padres and Blind Pig. Southern Proper Hospitality Group is a garbage company.

What about the two Blind Pig restaurants in Athens? Are they going to close also??

This is shocking news. Chidos had great food!! But so many new things are opening in Buckhead, Midtown, Dunwoody, all over really. Someone else will grab the spots and bring in something new and exciting. Can’t wait to try them all!

This is a blunder of horrible management. These guys are clowns and the rest of their locations will likely shut before long.

It's not Trump derangement when it's actually true, Sherlock. 🤣

We loved Big Ketch when it first opened but it’s terrible now. I thought a hotel was supposed to replace that entire site it’s on, but that must have fell through…

100% agree.. check out their ppp loans over Covid when they closed all locations. Major turnover constantly at the top and the three main owners hate one another and stab one another in the back constantly. I think they finally ousted the worst one, Michael Evertsen (the tissue bank in Mexico guy…) check out their lawsuits in DC and FL via TLC fifty three

For the Chico & Padre location, I hope they bring back a BBQ concept. The one prior to the conversion was really good. Buckhead is too homogeneous with its restaurant offerings and needs just down the middle good restaurants like Smokebelly.

Oh wow! I didn’t know someone got stabbed there. That’s awful!

Well hello Chris or Mike!

Please advise… shaking the CEO’s hand is like shaking a foot. Not sure what’s up with that

Poorly ran operating mixed with mediocre food products in today’s over abundance of brands leads to closures. Look at Chick-fil-A for guidance. The neighborhood Zaxby’s is struggling while Chick-fil-A are consistently covered up.

The frat brothers running this group hate their employees.. they hate their patrons too. Recipe for disaster.
