[ALERT] New Bagel Business Bound For Brookhaven, Pizza and Pastries too

A new bagel shop named "Dish's Bagels" is coming soon to Brookhaven.  The new shop - being opened by local mortgage broker turned bagel baker Chad Dishner - is under construction at 1410 Lake Hearn Drive at the new AMLI Brookhaven apartment complex.

The new shop will be Disher's first foray into the restaurant business, but all of his grandparents were in the hospitality field in the Catskills, according to the company's website.

Although bagels are in the name, Dish's will feature not just New York-style bagels, but "stacked" deli sandwiches, salads, and "house favorites inspired by flavors we all enjoy."

The site plan for the project suggests that Dish's will occupy a roughly 2,000 square foot suite in building "C3" and be situated in a corner space along Lake Hearn Drive.

Dish's joins a suddenly crowded bagel market in the Central Perimeter area.

Within a few miles of the upcoming Dish's location - where a few years ago there was little more than a Goldberg's and Bagel Boys as well as Einstein Bros. - three new local operators have opened over the past couple of years.

Bronx Bagel Buggy opened in Chamblee in early 2024, Brooklyn Bagel & Deli debuted at Cambridge Square in Brookhaven in May 2025, followed by Yaba's Bagels in Dunwoody in July 2025.

Chain operators PopUp Bagels, Jeff's Bagel Run, and Spread Bagelry - each with single units open in metro Atlanta - are all looking to open additional units with PopUp already under construction with a second unit in Buckhead.

Simply put, bagels are definitely having a moment.

At AMLI Brookhaven, where a site plan for the project suggests there is room for several restaurants, at least two others are confirmed with signage up and work under way.

Mama's Pizza, a locally owned pizza shop currently with one location in Alpharetta, is also opening in the project.  First opened in 1979 in Roswell, the shop has moved several times over the years but is today located in the same North Point Parkway center as Sahara Cafe, not far from North Point Mall.  The pizza shop is owned by Jimmy Vavaroutsos, whose father Peter emigrated from Greece to New York and learned to make pizza the local way before relocating to metro Atlanta.

The restaurant was named "Best Pizza in Atlanta" in The AJC’s “Best of the Big A” reader’s choice voting in 2010.  Mama's features New York-style pizzas (including gluten-free). salads, pastas, subs, and more.  Mama's will also occupy a corner suite in a roughly 1,700 square foot space in building "C1."

Mama's plans to open "within the next few weeks."

Also coming soon to the project is Larita Cafe.

This will be the first location for Larita Cafe which is being opened by local entrepreneur Mohammed Saleh.

"Artisanal gelato, European pastries, Middle Eastern-inspired desserts, with wide selection of coffee and drinks. A space designed for joy & connection." is what guests can expect when Larita opens later this year in its roughly 1,400 square foot space in building "C2."  The overall menu is incredibly diverse for such a small space and can be found here.

Elan Nail Bar is also opening in the project with several other spaces that could be restaurant or retail tenants still up for grabs.

One thing is for certain: each operator will need to ensure that they are firing on all cylinders and getting the word out when open, because this is definitely a "destination location."

Which upcoming opening are you most excited about?  Who in Atlanta do you think makes the best bagel? Pizza? Gelato?  What other business would you like to see open within the AMLI Brookhaven development?

Please share your thoughts below.

This all we need, a niche, specialized food product. All our problems are solved.

In an Amli development? The criminal element will have it shut down in 6-8 months.

Looks like the same bagel character that BB's Bagels uses. Isn't AI great?

I've been eating Mama's since 1980. It's my choice for the best pizza in Atlanta.

Bronx Bagel for just bagels or a bagel with their lox cream cheese. Brooklyn Bagel for a bagel breakfast sandwich. Dish is going to need to do something amazing to compete.

Everything is awful. It’s all crime ridden. And stupid. The readers here should just take over and open everything. They know how to do it and not close up and be crime free. Let them do everything. Otherwise it all sucks.

I love mamas. Their pizza is incredible. I’ve been eating there every three or four days since 1980

It seems places cluster - Bronx, Brooklyn, Dish's in this area. Pop up and Emerald on Beltline. Even Jeff's Bagel Run and Art's in Acworth (I believe that's the city). Put one of these in Vinings. One on Barrett Pkwy. One in Tucker, etc. It seems people find success and then cluster. Ooh, someone in Brookhaven likes a bagel, so let me open a place in Brookhaven. Seems short sided in the research as to where to locate a business.

Somebody here REALLY likes Momma's.

When Eli reports on a place in the more civilized areas of GA, the ITP people here complain that it's not in Atlanta.

Mama's Pizza rated in 2010 by the AJC that's a long time ago and lots can change.

The AJC is on line only.

You are the most uncivilized person on here.

*Mama's

I am not the poster who loves mama's but if I'm in the area that is my go-to for a meal.

True AJC is now online only. I liked having the paper in my hand. But as far as pizza I love Mama's pizza. I usually get olives onions and sweet italian sausage on my pizza. My wife gets either the calzone with spinach and chicken or baked ravioli. Occasionally our grandson joins us and he usually gets the Meatball parmigiana sub and a root beer to drink.

I used to prefer Creative Loafing.

someone needs to put the AJC out of its misery. It is useless, just taking up bandwidth.

Are we running out of “bandwidth” for things on the internet?
