Juice and smoothie franchise Clean Juice in Brookhaven has closed after just one year in business. The roughly 1,100 square foot eatery was located on the ground level of the new Parkview on Dresden apartment community at 1350 Dresden Drive.
(Before you ask, no. El Valle, also coming to Parkside on Dresden, is not open yet but should be soon.)
Clean Juice got its start in Huntersville, North Carolina in June 2015 and began franchising in 2016. At its peak in 2022, the chain had 134 locations open with several more in the works.
According to its 2025 materials, opening a Clean Juice is not cheap. A "traditional location" (600 – 1000 sq ft) includes a $30,000 initial franchise fee, 6% royalty, up to 3% marketing allocation, and a $5,000 "New Store Opening Marketing Fee."
The juice chain sold franchises on its idea of house-made, cold-pressed juice, but to improve profitability and save on labor, shifted to pre-bottled juices in 2022. Franchisees revolted and the chain shed dozens of locations. Today, there are about 75 open according to online materials.
The chain was sold to Brix Holdings, a Dallas, Texas-based firm, in April 2024. Brix is a collector, one might say, of troubled or stagnant brands with other holdings including frozen yogurt franchises Red Mango and Orange Leaf in addition to Friendly's, the longstanding restaurant and ice cream shop.
The Brookhaven closure marks at least the seventh Clean Juice to have closed in metro Atlanta in recent years. Franchises of the brand previously closed along Roswell Road in Sandy Springs (converted by the franchisees to CraveWell Cafe but now Cafe Comma), Marietta Boulevard in the "Upper Westside" (converted by the franchisees to CraveWell Cafe), Johnson Ferry Road in East Cobb (now Playa Bowls) Sandy Plains Road in East Cobb (vacant), Memorial Drive in Reynoldstown (now Tropical Smoothie Cafe) and on Newnan Crossing Bypass in Newnan (now Frutta Bowls).
According to the Clean Juice website there are still Georgia locations open on Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta and in Pooler near Savannah.
Why do you think Clean Juice seems to struggle so much? What is your favorite juice joint? What would you like to see open in place of Clean Juice in Brookhaven?

prepared fresh juices are expensive - it's worth the effort to buy a juicer and make them at home.
I knew in February they wouldn’t last. It’s what they deserve for turning everyone away the day after Super Bowl.
I knew everything wouldn’t last. If there is a story written about it here, or anywhere, whatever it is it won’t last.
