[ALERT] IPIC Theaters Files for Bankruptcy, Closing Midtown Atlanta Location

The IPIC Theaters at Colony Square in Midtown (1197 Peachtree Street) will soon close, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act filing from Wednesday.

[ALERT] CMX CinéBistro Calls it Quits in Peachtree Corners

CMX CinéBistro has closed its six screen theater at Peachtree Corners Town Center (5180 Town Center Boulevard) in Peachtree Corners.  When it opened on March 8, 2019, it was the second in metro Atlanta for the "dinner & a movie" theater operator, joining another in TOWN Brookhaven.

[ALERT] Rural King to Replace Suburban Movie Theater in Continued Georgia Expansion

An established retailer is looking to Georgia to continue its growth spurt.  Rural King - "America's Farm & Home Store" - entered the state last October with a store in Bainbridge before adding another in Waycross last November.  Now the company has at least two more stores on tap for the area.

A new bb.q Chicken - Korea's Finest Fried Chicken plans to open in Decatur. The new franchise restaurant will open at 319 West Ponce de Leon Avenue where it will open in place of Pho King, which closed at the end of 2021.  The roughly 2,600 square foot space originally debuted in early 2016 as an outpost of Taziki's Mediterranean Café.  Seoul, South Korea-based bb.q Chicken has existing Atlanta area locations in Doraville, Duluth, Johns Creek and Suwanee.

[EXCLUSIVE] Studio Movie Grill Shutters Local Theater

Dinner-and-a-movie theater chain Studio Movie Grill (SMG) has closed its location on Holcomb Bridge Road in Alpharetta.  The nine screen location, which first opened in 2010, quietly closed last week.  There was reportedly no notice given to the public in advance of the closure, but many suspected it would close in light of the planned opening of a new SMG about five miles away on North Point Parkway.

[ACTION!] Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to Make Atlanta Premiere

Austin favorite Alamo Drafthouse Cinema plans to enter the Atlanta market... in Doraville...in 2021.  The new cinema complex is planned as part of a recently announced wave of new developments at Assembly, the 165 acre mixed-use development on the site of the old General Motors assembly property just off I-285 in Doraville.

[THAT'S ALL FOLKS] AMC Theatres Shutters Mansell Cinema

AMC Classic Mansell Crossing 14 Theatres has closed.  Originally opened June 24, 1994, the nearly 52,000 square foot 14 screen theater closed June 3, with the company directing patrons to the AMC Dine-In 12 at North Point Mall and to the AMC Avenue Forsyth 12, both nearby newer theaters.

[ACTION!] NCG Cinemas to Open New Theater at Northeast Plaza in Brookhaven

NCG Cinemas plans to open a new movie theater in Brookhaven's Northeast Plaza in 2019.  The "new" theater will actually occupy a space previously home to a 12 screen theater, but the suite was later a dance hall before sitting vacant for the past several years.  Specifically, NCG will occupy suite 10, a 32,334 square foot space.

[ACTION!] Battery Atlanta Secures Lease With Premium Theater Operator Silverspot

The Braves Development Company (BDC) earlier today confirmed a lease has been signed with premium movie theater operator Silverspot Cinema.   ToNeTo Atlanta was first tipped off to its upcoming opening last month, but at that time the lease was reportedly not yet signed.  The new theater will span 38,000 square feet with eleven screens, offering a wide range of film, programming and events as well as a full bar and in-theater dining.

Vietnamese eatery Pho Dai Loi plans to open a new location in Chastain Square in north Buckhead.  Pho Dai Loi will open in place of failed "better burger" joint Burger 21 which closed this past June after less than two years in business.  This will be Pho Dai Loi's fourth restaurant overall, joining existing locations on Jonesboro Road in Forest Park, Buford Highway in Chamblee and on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth.
