[EXCLUSIVE] Buckhead Shopping Center Gets New Name, Losing Sandwich Shop

Peachtree Piedmont Crossing, aka "the Disco Kroger shopping center" will soon be known by a new name.  Recently updated leasing materials from Regency Centers (NASDAQ: REG), the Jacksonville, Florida-based owner of the property, indicate the center is now being marketed as "Buckhead Landing."  The new name is not yet present at the property itself and likely won't be for some time.  Current anchor Kroger is slated to close in May 2023 and be replaced in 2024 by a new Publix, as ToNeTo Atlanta was first to report in July 2021.  It's likely that little will be done in terms of significant signage updates until Kroger closes.

Under the plan, a large portion of the existing mall will be demolished, while the remaining exterior facades and interior spaces will be renovated and open out to create a more inviting experience.   Plans also call for reducing the amount of surface parking and transforming it into new streets, green spaces, trail way links and buildings.

One celebrity chef is replacing another at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta.  ToNeTo Atlanta has confirmed that The Americano, the upcoming restaurant at the InterContinental hotel in Buckhead, is the same The Americano created by celebrity chef Scott Conant.  The Americano replaces Southern Art from celebrity chef Art Smith, which opened at the upscale Buckhead hotel in late 2011 and closed in 2021.  Conant, like Smith, has authored several cookbooks, but is perhaps most well known as a recurring judge on the hit Food Network show "Chopped."
