[CLOSURE ALERT] Once Popular Dunwoody Restaurant Has Flown The Coop

Wild Wing Cafe in Dunwoody has closed.  The restaurant, located in Ashford Place (4788 Ashford Dunwoody Road), opened in February 2015 and closed as of May 31, according to a post on the restaurant's Facebook page.  When the restaurant opened, it replaced Romano's Macaroni Grill which had closed in August 2013.

The roughly 7,400 square foot space is not currently marked as "vacant or available" on property owner Regency Centers' website, but sources close to the property tell ToNeTo Atlanta the restaurant's imminent closure was known, and they are actively working on a replacement tenant which they hope will be a local operator.

Atlanta native Cecil Crowley and his wife Diane opened the chain's first location in Hilton Head, South Carolina in June 1990.  Today based in Charlotte, Wild Wing Cafe includes 37 locations with three more coming soon, across eight states.  Georgia, with fourteen locations, is the chain's largest market by store count.

Local entrepreneur and restaurant industry veterans Bipin Changela and Tiku Shroff opened the Dunwoody restaurant and planned to open additional units in McDonough, Kennesaw and Marietta. Shroff partnered with Sandip Patel and Sam Patel to open a McDonough restaurant in early 2017, but neither the Kennesaw nor Marietta outposts came to fruition.

Following its closure, Ashford Place still has two casual sit down restaurants: Chili's and Memphis BBQ Co.

As ToNeTo Atlanta has reportedly previously, Dunwoody has several new restaurants in the immediate pipeline including sit down options Buffalo Wild Wings, Atlanta Bread, North Italia, Grana, Superica, 26 Thai Kitchen & Bar and (the return of) P.F. Chang's, along with Super Chix, Chicken Salad Chick, Sweetgreen, and Panda Express, among others.

this is going to sound ridiculous but the Chili’s at Ashford place is now a to go only location as per the signs on the front and side doors. I haven’t been to Chili’s in many many years however we were willing to try it last week and came to find the signs. upon further investigation there were no one in the restaurant and they were taking to go orders. We almost went to the wild wings cafĂ© next door and now I am glad we did not go that route given they were in closing mode this service and product would seem to be subpar. I think Chili’s is on their way out at least at Ashford place.

Nori Nori should move there from Abernathy Road. Or a Juicy Crab or Big Ketch seafood restaurant. Or turn it into a small concert venue or comedy club, with a diner attached, like Landmark in Buckhead.

The only time we went to Nori Nori it was not sanitary. A new potential concept from Marietta Diner called Dunwoody Diner would be perfect in that Wild Wings space. It is a large space.

Only went there a handful of times even though we live nearby. The food was never better than meh and the service was mediocre as well. BWW will be a fine replacement for the area to fill the mediocre food and service in the wing genre.
