[EXCLUSIVE] Shake Shack and 7 Brew Joining Raising Cane's at Retail Redevelopment

ToNeTo Atlanta has learned that Shake Shack (NYSE: SHAK) plans to open a new drive-thru location in Kennesaw.  The new restaurant, planned for Barrett Parkway, would open alongside new locations of 7 Brew and Raising Cane's on the site of the former and That! retail store.

[ALERT] Primark to Enter Metro Atlanta Market

In a move more than ten years in the making, Irish retailer Primark will in 2026 make its metro Atlanta debut.  The retailer will open a new store at Sugarloaf Mills in Lawrenceville in a roughly 30,000 square foot space that was originally and until 2020 home to Neiman Marcus Last Call, the luxury retailer's off-price banner.

A stalled project across from Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody is on again, with another round of tweaks and a new restaurant, too!  The redevelopment - 84 Perimeter Center East - is now scheduled to bring new retail, age-restricted apartments, and a drive-through restaurant.

[ALERT] J. Alexander's Sliding into Third Metro Location

The Battery Atlanta announced Monday that J. Alexander’s has joined its lineup and will open next spring. The new restaurant will mark the third in metro Atlanta for the Nashville-based chain.  J. Alexander's at The Battery Atlanta will span about 8,000 square feet and replace an existing restaurant and also take over additional space. 

[EXCLUSIVE] STK No Longer Moving Forward with Planned Buckhead Restaurant

This past February we reported that STK, the popular New York steakhouse with one existing location in Midtown Atlanta, was planning to open a second location in Buckhead.  We have now learned those plans have been cancelled and the steakhouse will not be opening in Buckhead after all.

[UPDATE] Del Taco Makes Seven Locations Available For Sublease

ToNeTo Atlanta reported August 7 that seven Del Taco restaurants had suddenly closed around Georgia.  The closures were reportedly the result of the recently bankruptcy of franchisee Matador Restaurant Group, which owned and operated a total of 22 units in Georgia and Alabama.

[EXCLUSIVE] New Korean Steakhouse to Open in Former Cumberland Breastaurant

A new location of Stone Age Korean Steakhouse is coming soon to 2950 Cobb Parkway near Cumberland Mall.  The new Korean steakhouse is opening in a roughly 6,600 square foot space left vacant since the January 2022 closure of Bayou'Q.  The space was also previously occupied by Tilted Kilt, a breastaurant.

Chicken chain Pollo Campero is quietly growing its presence in the state and will soon have more than a half dozen locations open around metro Atlanta.  The popular chain started in Guatemala in 1971 and today maintains US headquarters in Dallas.

The first Atlanta area location of POP MART is scheduled to open at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody.  According to planning materials reviewed by ToNeTo Atlanta, the new store is planned for the roughly 1,700 square foot, first floor space (#1355) currently occupied by candy store Lolli & Pops.

[ALERT] Popular Breakfast Spot J. Christopher's Pulls the Plug in Decatur

Atlanta based J. Christopher's has closed their restaurant in Decatur.  The breakfast eatery, located at 250 E. Ponce de Leon Ave., had been in business nineteen years, according to signage at the restaurant announcing the closure.

Caribou Coffee will next week open two new locations in metro Atlanta as it continues its return to growth in the state.  The new locations are slated to open in Snellville and Lawrenceville and come on the heels of openings in Griffin, Athens, Smyrna and Woodstock this past June.

[CLOSURE ALERT] Duck Donuts Franchise to Serve Final Donut in Marietta

The Duck Donuts franchisees in East Cobb announced Tuesday that they will be closing their shop after six years in business.  The donut shop, located in the Whole Foods Market-anchored Merchants Walk shopping center, first opened in July 2019 and was, the third in metro Atlanta, joining others in Alpharetta and Chastain Park.

[ALERT] Miami-Based, Michelin-Lauded Indian Restaurant to Open in West Midtown

A new Indian restaurant is coming to Atlanta, and it's got Michelin cred.  Ghee Indian Kitchen, which has two locations in Miami, will soon open in West Midtown. The new restaurant is to open in the 5,300-square-foot space in the Star Metals project (1050 Howell Mill Road, Suite 109), previously home to Wagamama.

[ALERT] Growing Bagel Chain Thinks Their Bagels Are So Good They Won't Let You Buy Just One

In recent weeks we have reported on the upcoming arrival of Montreal-style bagel shop Spread Bagelry (Buckhead Village)  and the expansion of local New York-style bagel shop Brooklyn Bagel & Deli (Sandy Springs).  In our research for these stories, we came across several other up-and-coming bagel chains that may have Georgia on their minds.

PJ's Coffee of New Orleans has its eyes on a return to metro Atlanta.  The New Orleans-based coffee shop will on August 4 open a new location in Rome and according to a separate release, has plans to open twelve locations in metro Atlanta in the years to come.

[ALERT] Casual Dining Chain Shrinks to Just Four Georgia Locations After Latest Closure

O'Charley's Restaurant & Bar has closed its restaurant in Hiram in Paulding County after more than two decades in business.  The restaurant, located in an outparcel of Hiram Pavilion  (4790 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway), reportedly closed without warning this past weekend.
