Chicken chain Pollo Campero is quietly growing its presence in the state and will soon have more than a half dozen locations open around metro Atlanta. The popular chain started in Guatemala in 1971 and today maintains US headquarters in Dallas.
Die-hard Pollo Campero fans are known to board planes from Guatemala (and El Salvador) with specially prepared bags of chicken from the popular chain. This practice is so common that airlines like Delta have airport signage that names and limits the number of Pollo Campero bags any one passenger may travel home with.
The chain currently operates five locations in metro Atlanta, including those in Brookhaven, Lawrenceville, Marietta, Norcross, and a second in Lawrenceville at 630 Buford Drive, which opened this past June in place of a former Hardee's.
Our publishing partners at The City Menus reported July 23 that the company is also planning a ground-up location in Fayetteville, their first on the southside. The new restaurant is planned for 1373 State Highway 85, across the street from Fayette Pavilion.
Are you a fan of Pollo Campero? What is your favorite quick-serve chicken restaurant? Where else in metro Atlanta would you like to see Pollo Campero open?

They used to have a location in Roswell years ago. Their chicken came in pre-cooked and they just fried or baked it to defrost and heat the chicken. That physically location is now a Starbucks.
LOVE Pollo Campero. I live near that location in Norcross. Sometimes when I'm driving by it, I can just smell the deliciousness coming out of there, and I almost start floating on it like a cartoon character smelling a pie in a windowsill lol
According to Pollo Campero, the chicken is never frozen and cooked fresh daily
More chicken! More chicken! Bwaakkk!
Interesting. I'm right near this location. Drive by it all the time. And I didn't really think there was enough space between What-a-Burger and City BBQ to put an entire other restaurant. But okay then.
Go out and measure it and let then know your thoughts.
I live near that old location in Roswell. IIRC it only stayed open 6 months
No chicken. Let’s have more crickets
