[ALERT] IPIC Theaters Files for Bankruptcy, Closing Midtown Atlanta Location

The IPIC Theaters at Colony Square in Midtown (1197 Peachtree Street) will soon close, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act filing from Wednesday.

A new restaurant is coming soon to Dunwoody.  Patrones Authentic Mexican Cuisine is slated to open in Perimeter Village (4705 C Ashford Dunwoody Road) in a roughly 5,000 square foot space most recently - for a brief time - occupied by Kiskeya Pizza, and before that, Nancy's Pizzeria.

CMX CinéBistro has closed its ten screen theater at Halcyon (5180 Town Center Boulevard) in Alpharetta.  The theater spanned nearly 38,000 square feet and helped anchor the mixed-use development.

A proposed Portillo's is seemingly not happening in Dunwoody.  A representative for the group behind the redevelopment notified the City of Dunwoody that they were withdrawing their application that sought to pave the way for the restaurant to move forward.

[ALERT] Wendy's Closes Nearly 50 Year Old "Image Activated" Restaurant in East Cobb

The Wendy’s at 1312 Johnson Ferry Road across from Merchants Walk in East Cobb has closed.  The closure is part of a larger wave of closings planned by the Dublin, Ohio-based hamburger chain.  The restaurant reportedly closed as of the end of business on February 18.  

[WOW] Whataburger Continues to Open, Plan, and Cancel Stores Across Metro Atlanta

A growing burger chain is looking to open in place of a former burger restaurant that's trying to find itself.  A franchisee of Whataburger is looking to open a new restaurant in place of the former Wendy's at 4453 Hugh Howell Road in Tucker.

[EXCLUSIVE] Third Time Apparently Not The Charm as Del Taco Departs Georgia Again

Del Taco has now closed all of its remaining Georgia locations.  The chain, which re-entered the Georgia market in 2012, closed eight locations last year after one of its largest franchisees filed for bankruptcy. The remaining locations closed as of 3PM February 17, according to a source familiar with the closure.  

[WOW] Don't Get it Twisted: Lenox Square Adding Second Soft Pretzel Eatery

A new location of Wetzel's Pretzels is coming soon to metro Atlanta.  The new pretzel shop is slated to open in the food court at Lenox Square in Buckhead.  The new outpost would be the third traditional unit and sixth overall in metro Atlanta for the California-based chain.

[EXCLUSIVE] Chastain Market Secures New Leases, Eyes Restaurant Replacement

Changes are coming to Chastain Market in Chastain Park.  The center - located at 4600 Roswell Road - will soon welcome at least three new tenants with more on the way.  The center, formerly known as Gateway Chastain, was acquired by two local real estate firms in early 2022 who changed both the center's name and quietly, its fortunes.

[UPDATE] New Lidl Grocery Store in Norcross Finally Moving Forward After Five Year Hiatus

Nearly five years after our report in June 2021 that grocery store Lidl was planning to open a new store in Norcross, the store is back from the dead!  The new store, to be located at 4990 Jimmy Carter Boulevard, will be built on the site of what was once the Horizon Events Center.

[ALERT] Perimeter Mall Looking to Move its Food Court to Former "Forever" Home

It appears that the owners of Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody are looking to relocate its existing food court to a vacant retail space within the mall.  The plan, discussed at the Dunwoody City Council meeting on February 9, would see the food court relocate from the center of the first floor of the mall to the former Forever 21 space on the first floor of the Macy's wing.

[ALERT] Arby's Abruptly Closes Two More Atlanta Area Locations

Another day, another (two) Arby's closures in metro Atlanta.  This time, it's the Arby's at 2161 Roswell Road in East Cobb and at 2365 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth.  ToNeTo Atlanta readers suggest that the restaurants closed quietly in recent days without prior notice to guests.  Signage has already been removed from both restaurants.

[UPDATE] All Bahama Breeze Restaurants to Close Including Two in Metro Atlanta

The other shoe, err, sandal, has dropped with Darden Restaurants announcing Tuesday that it plans to close all of the remaining 28 Bahama Breeze Island Grille restaurants.
