[WOW!] Burlington Scores Several JOANN Shops

Off-price retailer Burlington has won the lease assignments of several JOANN Fabric & Crafts stores, including two in Georgia.  The craft store, which filed bankruptcy in January, reportedly shuttered 112 locations April 28 with the remaining portion of the once nearly 900 unit chain slated to close by the end of May.

[UPDATE] Planta Queen Has Abdicated its Throne After Fifteen Months in Buckhead

About fifteen months after its Buckhead opening, trendy plant-based restaurant PLANTA Queen has closed.  The restaurant, located in Buckhead Village District (3013 Bolling Way), debuted December 26, 2023, but was listed for sale early this past December after less than a year in operation.

A new bagel shop will soon rise from the remains of another.  Yaba's Bagels plans to open later this June in Ashford Place (4780 Ashford Dunwoody Road) in place of 101 Bagel Cafe which closed last July in the roughly 1,800 square foot space.

[ALERT] Pizza Shop Nina + Rafi Sold, Eclipse di Luna Replacing It

After hitting the market last year, trendy pizza shop Nina+Rafi has been sold.  The upscale restaurant, located in SPX Alley (661 Auburn Avenue, Suite 220), first opened in November 2018.  Owners Anthony Spina and Billy Streck named the restaurant after their grandmothers Nina and Rafi, respectively.

[UPDATE] Growing Chicken Chain Makes Georgia Debut in Roswell

After several unexplained delays, Layne's Chicken Fingers is reportedly opening their debut Atlanta area location in Roswell. The new eatery, announced this past July, was at the time expected to open in late October or early November before later being pushed to December.

[ALERT] Taqueria Tsumani on the Move in Roswell

The Roswell outpost of Taqueria Tsunami Latin-Asian Kitchen is on the move.  Roswell planning documents suggest and an employee at the restaurant confirms that the locally owned eatery is looking to move about three miles away later this summer.

Planning documents confirm that Dutch Bros Coffee is looking to add to its metro Atlanta pipeline with a new location planned for Roswell.  The .46 acre site, 705 Holcomb Bridge Road, was for nearly 50 years home to a Captain D's restaurant before the seafood restaurant's closure this past November.

Mamoun's Falafel has quietly closed its lone Atlanta area location in West Midtown.  The restaurant, in an endcap outparcel of West Midtown Center (1269 Northside Drive), opened January 25, 2020, and closed in recent weeks, according to sources in the area.

A few weeks ago we received word that Slutty Vegan had closed its short-lived location in Harlem. We attempted to reach out to the restaurant to no avail.  They suggest that one text them via their website but seem not to be monitoring the provided number.  More closures followed, and then on Tuesday came a story in People that indicated the business had  gone through a "restructuring" in February.

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A, which ended 2024 with about 3,100 locations, is at it again with several more locations planned for Georgia.  The Peach State is already home to about 270 restaurants, but we are tracking at least three additional locations slated to open in the coming months.  

[CLOSURE ALERT] Bagel Business's Closure to Leave a Hole in the Market

A longtime Einstein Bros. Bagels will soon close.   The Einstein Bros. at 2240 North Druid Hills Road is slated to close Saturday April 5 after more than twenty years in business.  There was no reason provided for the closure, but the constant roadwork likely hurt their business, as did the reworked entrance due to the new Children's Health Care of Atlanta campus.

Finally!  In-N-Out will make its Atlanta debut with a location planned for Buckhead.  Sources close to the project tell ToNeTo Atlanta that a new In-N-Out will open at 2929 Peachtree Road in Buckhead.  The new In-N-Out will replace a longstanding McDonald's.   

[EXCLUSIVE] Former Kennesaw Sears Sold to Surprising Local Store

Cobb County property records confirm that the former Sears at Town Center at Cobb (400 Ernest W. Barrett Parkway) has been sold.  The two-level store measures about 171,000 square feet across two levels and sits on about thirteen acres.  Sears occupied the space from February 1986 until its closure in August 2020.
