[ALERT] Unkie's Pizza + Bar to Debut Soon in Brookhaven

A new restaurant called Unkie's Pizza+Bar is coming soon to Brookhaven.  The pizza shop is opening at 3400 Clairmont Road, Suite A, in the Skyland shopping center.  Unkie's replaces The Greek Pizzeria & Gyros which closed in the 2,000 square foot space in December after about four years in business.

All three remaining locations of Yumbii have closed.  The fast casual Korean & Mexican restaurants had been listed for sale in December and remain on the market with local broker Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group.

A new location of The Cheesecake Factory is coming to metro Atlanta and it's not the size or location you might expect.  While most existing locations of The Cheesecake Factory are close to 10,000 square feet, the new one will be about 6,500 square feet, part of a push by the Beverly Hills-based concept to expand into smaller markets with smaller locations.

Dallas, Texas-based la Madeleine Country French Cafe plans to close its location in Sandy Springs.  The restaurant, located at 1165 Perimeter Center West, Suite 330, will close for good as of 4pm on Saturday January 24, according to employees at the restaurant.

Trina Turk will on January 24 close its boutique at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead.  The 2,100 square foot store has been in the mall since August 2013.  There are reportedly no existing plans for the retailer to relocate elsewhere in the mall or the area at this time.

Atlanta's first location of Torchy's Tacos is closing.  According to signage at the West Midtown restaurant, the location, Georgia's first and only, is slated to close Tuesday February 3.

The former Lure Saltwater Kitchen & Bar in Midtown has been sold.  The roughly 5,100 square foot restaurant located at 1106 Crescent Avenue in Midtown opened in July 2012 and closed this past August.  

[UPDATE] Shipley Do-Nuts Shutters Sole Atlanta Area Shop

Shipley Do-Nuts has closed its original store in Georgia.  Metro Atlanta's first franchise opened March 20, 2023 at 3225 Keith Bridge Road in Cumming in Forsyth County and closed as of January 11.

[UPDATE] Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square Both Lose Casual Dining Options

Earl of Sandwich has permanently closed at Phipps Plaza.  The sandwich shop first opened on the second floor of the Buckhead mall in October 2016 and closed twice in recent years, but in both cases reopened soon afterwards.  This closure, however, is final, according to signage posted to the restaurant's front doors.

[UPDATE] Macy's to Close 14 More Stores, One in Atlanta

Macy’s Inc., continuing to execute its three-year “Bold New Chapter” reinvigoration strategy, this week disclosed 14 Macy’s locations that will close this year, including one in metro Atlanta.  The company launched its "right sizing" plan in 2024 when it revealed it planned to close 150 stores in the ensuing three years.

Perimeter Pointe, an expansive, well-located shopping center, has been sold.  Situated at the intersection of Mount Vernon Highway, Perimeter Center West, and Abernathy Road in Sandy Springs, the roughly 31 acre property had been on the market since 2023 and finally sold as of December 31.

The W Atlanta - Downtown which opened in 2009, will in 2026 be reflagged, leaving Atlanta, once home to four W Hotels, with zero.  The 237-room hotel opened in the aftermath of the Great Recession and faced foreclosure in 2010.

Upscale restaurant Falling Rabbit has closed after a five year run in downtown Duluth.  Located at 3580 West Lawrenceville Street in Parson's Alley, the restaurant debuted in November 2020 and closed as of January 1, according to posts made to the restaurant's official social pages.
