[EXCLUSIVE] Tim Hortons Secures Former Burger Spot for Latest Location

A new Tim Hortons is planned for Fairburn.  The new doughnut and coffee shop is coming to 7940 Senoia Road where it will replace a former Hardee's that closed last year as part of the struggles and eventual bankruptcy of franchisee Summit Restaurant Holdings, LLC.  Planning documents suggest that Tim Hortons will make use of the existing 2,586 square foot building and renovate it to suit its needs.

The new Tim Hortons is one of several planned for the greater metro Atlanta area over the coming years.

In addition to the Fairburn location, other locations are reportedly in the works at Tara Boulevard and Edgemoor Avenue in Jonesboro, Highway 34 and Posey Road in Newnan, and along Peachtree Parkway in Suwanee, among others.  Another former Hardees on Atlanta Highway in Loganville is reopening as a new Caribou Coffee, while many others around Georgia are still available and being marketed for lease.

ToNeTo Atlanta readers have shown tremendous excitement for several concepts entering or expanding in metro Atlanta including Raising Cane's, Whataburger, Dutch Bros, Caribou Coffee, Shipley Do-Nuts, and Tim Hortons, among others.  Many have lamented the lack of availability of any of the concepts in "metro Atlanta," an area that, despite being universally understood to mean ITP or inside the perimeter of I-285, seems to be defined differently depending on who you ask.

Tim Hortons has thus far been the new concept to open furthest inside the perimeter with a location that debuted December 31 on Spring Street, just off I-85 in Midtown.

Long a favorite in Canada and by Canadian-born pop star Justin Bieber, Tim Hortons is now looking to replicate its home market success in the U.S.

According to an article earlier this month in industry magazine QSR,  "Tim Hortons said in the past 80 percent of Canadians visit the brand every month. That’s the same percentage of Americans who go to McDonald’s—each year."

Tim Hortons has said that through its franchise partners it plans to have as many as 30 locations open in Georgia by 2027.

The Fairburn location should open later this fall.

Are you excited for the continued expansion of Tim Hortons in metro Atlanta?  Do you think Tim Hortons is as good as people claim it is?  Where else would you like to see Tim Hortons open around metro Atlanta?

Please share your thoughts below.

It’s going to be open soon….very soon. The building appears to be finished. Signage is up. Opening soon banner out front.

If they can survive the absolutely awful traffic around the SR 74 / I 85 corridor, this one should be a hit.

In what world is metro Atlanta universally considered to be synonymous with ITP? I’ve lived here for 45 years, and metro Atlanta has always included at least Cobb and Dekalb counties, in addition to all of Fulton County. And since the 80s, it’s generally included Gwinnett (at least as far as Duluth) and northern Clayton county.

Metro Atlanta does depend on who is asking and what area you are trying to cover. There is an Atlanta media map that extends to Athens and all the way to Chattanooga, and then there are the counties serviced by Marta. Metro Atlanta is a very ambiguous term.

Why the Bieber reference?

Fairburn is nowhere near Atlanta. Are you also going to let us know about business and restaurant openings and closings in Idaho? 🙄

Google Maps says Fairburn is in FULTON COUNTY, 23 minutes /
21.5 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta. And that's too far for you? (Perhaps you're new here and not yet familiar with the local geography.)

FYI, Boise, Idaho is 2,172.2 miles from Atlanta. and yes, that is indeed far.

Fairburn IS near Atlanta. You should familiarize yourself with Atlanta and surrounding areas. 10 minutes from the airport and 20 from midtown 😉

I’m quite familiar with Metro Atlanta, having lived here since 2005. Fairburn is out in the sticks. It’s a 25-minute drive from the center of downtown, probably 30 to 35 minutes from Midtown, and even further from Buckhead or anywhere else in the city that actually matters. Also, while I’m thrilled to know that there is an Atlanta media map that extends to Chattanooga and Athens, there are also people who think that Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster are real. There is a difference between objective truth and personal truth. Some of you could potentially embrace that. And to our esteemed website owner, let’s focus a little more regularly on businesses located in or near the city, and not ones located in a galaxy far, far away.

It’s in the metro Atlanta area, like it or not. If not, move to Idaho.

Fayette county is the southern most Atlanta Metro county. Fairburn is Fulton county which is also part of metro Atlanta.
