[EXCLUSIVE] J. Crew Factory and Playa Bowls to Open New Locations in Chastain Park

Powers Ferry Square has landed two two tenants and recently welcomed a growing small business.  J. Crew Factory and Playa Bowls will soon join the HomeGoods-anchored center along Roswell Road in Chastain Park.  The new tenants join FOM (Frame Of Mind), a locally owned boutique eyewear retailer that recently opened in the center.

[EXCLUSIVE] Macy's at Northlake Mall to Close, Nearby Neighbor Reportedly Looking to Move In

Macy's announced plans in February to close 150 stores over the next three years.  At the time, the struggling retailer did not reveal where any of the closures would occur but did indicate that the first 50 closures would happen in 2024.  In a move that seemed to confirm its fate, the company quietly listed its store and land at Northlake Mall for sale in May.

Sprouts Farmers Market will later this fall open a new Atlanta area store and has another on tap, too.  The new healthy grocery store will open at The Bridges at Jodeco, a massive 158 acre mixed-use development along Jodeco Road, just off I-75 in Stockbridge.

Independently owned, sustainably sourced, luxury bedding company Boll & Branch will open a new store at Avenue East Cobb, according to plans reviewed by ToNeTo Atlanta.  The new store would mark the second for the brand in Atlanta and only the eighth overall for the New Jersey-based company.

[UPDATE] Bloomingdale's the Outlet Store to Debut This Week in Buckhead

The wait is finally over!  Bloomingdale's the outlet store is opening Friday August 30 at Buckhead Station, just off GA 400 in Buckhead.  The off-price outlet from upscale department store Bloomingdale's is the first in the state and 21st overall for the New York-based retailer.  

[UPDATE] Upscale Aberdeen Steakhouse Quietly Shutters in Milton

After little more than a year in business Aberdeen Steakhouse has abruptly closed in Crabapple.  The upscale steakhouse opened in May 2023.  It "temporarily closed" as of July 30 but has not reopened, with sources close to the restaurant indicating that there were "liquidity challenges" that led to what is believed to be its permanent closure.

[UPDATE] Roswell Loses One Eatery But is Gaining One of Michelin's "Recommended Restaurants"

Roswell recently lost one restaurant but will soon gain another.  12 Lunar Eatery, an Asian restaurant that opened last year, has closed.  Separately,  LanZhou Ramen is opening a new location in another space nearby.  

[CHECKMATE] Caribou Coffee Has Several More Locations Brewing in Georgia

On the heels of its latest opening in Cumming last week, Caribou Coffee has at least three more locations in the works in Georgia.  Plans reviewed by ToNeTo Atlanta indicate that new Caribou Coffee shops are planned for former Checkers restaurants in Athens, Griffin, and Lawrenceville.

[BOOM!] Savage Pizza to Open New Locations in Several Suburban Spots

Popular intown eatery Savage Pizza is looking to grow and has the suburbs on its mind.  Established in Little 5 Points in 1990, the local pizza shop celebrated for its retro, superhero-themed environment, later added an Avondale Estates location but has for many years been just the two units.  

[EXCLUSIVE] Familiar Mediterranean Eatery Returning to Dunwoody

In a puzzling move, Pita Mediterranean Street Food is returning to Dunwoody less than three years after leaving the area.  A new franchise of Pita Mediterranean Street Food is coming to the Kroger-anchored Orchard Park shopping center (2090 Dunwoody Club Drive).  The pita shop will occupy an 1,800 square foot space vacated this past January by DaVinci's Pizzeria.

[WOW] Five Month Old Fluffy Fluffy Franchise Listed For Sale

A Japanese dessert cafe that just opened this past March in Buford has been listed for sale.  The Fluffy Fluffy franchise, located at 2925 Buford Drive in the Exchange at Gwinnett shopping center, opened March 16 and was the second franchise to open in metro Atlanta following the brand's debut in Duluth in December 2023.     

[UPDATE] Portillo's Pushes Forward in Planned Peach State Premiere

Portillo's, a Chicago-based restaurant best known for hot dogs and beef sandwiches, is getting closer to its planned metro Georgia arrival.  The company indicated this past September that it was considering a metro Atlanta expansion and has now hired a local brokerage to spearhead that effort.

[ARRR!] Captain D's Quietly Walked the Plank in Tucker

Captain D's Seafood Kitchen has closed its longstanding restaurant at 2032 Montreal Road in Tucker.  The freestanding fast food eatery, located just off LaVista Road, abruptly shut without notice Monday, according to local ToNeTo Atlanta readers.  DeKalb County property records indicate that the restaurant was built in 1976.

[UPDATE] Torchy's Tacos to Finally Debut First Atlanta Restaurant

Atlanta's first location of Torchy's Tacos is finally opening!  According to a recent post to the official Torchy's Tacos Facebook page, the new location, Georgia's first, is slated to open Friday August 23.  The opening was pushed from a previously planned July opening.

The co-owners of Midtown's El Valle are planning to open a new Mediterranean restaurant in Peachtree Corners.  The new eatery, which will reportedly be focused on authentic Persian cuisine, is planned for the former California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) at The Forum Peachtree Corners (5173 Peachtree Parkway).

Chando's Tacos has closed its restaurants in Buckhead.  The California taco shop in The Peach shopping center (2900 Peachtree Road) opened in September 2021 and reportedly closed "about a month ago," according to sources in the area.

The Colonnade, one of Atlanta's longest running, continuously operating restaurants, has been listed for sale with would-be buyers invited to "keep or convert."  Established in 1927 in a white-columned house at the corner of Lindbergh Drive and Piedmont Road, the casual southern eatery thrived there until 1962 when it moved to its current home about a mile and a half away.

[WOW] Buca di Beppo Files For Bankruptcy, Shutters Alpharetta Restaurant

Buca di Beppo has closed its one Atlanta area restaurant.  The family-style Italian-American restaurant was located at 2335 Mansell Road just off Exit 8 of GA 400 in Alpharetta.  Sources in the area indicate the restaurant closed in recent days while other reports indicate the Orlando-based company closed as many as 13 "underperforming restaurants" within the last week or so.

[CLOSURE ALERT] Breakfast Eatery J. Christopher's Shutters Peachtree Hills Restaurant

Atlanta based J. Christopher's has closed their restaurant in Peachtree Hills.  The breakfast eatery, located at 10 Kings Circle, opened in 2017 and was the relocation of their former restaurant at 3050 Peachtree Road (Two Buckhead Plaza), less than two miles away.  Their former location is now home to the popular Thai eatery Chai Yo.

After thirty-five years in business, The Original Pancake House near the corner of Cheshire Bridge and LaVista Roads in Atlanta has closed.  The restaurant, physically located along LaVista Road, carried a 2321 Cheshire Bridge Road address.  Tipsters in the neighborhood alerted ToNeTo Atlanta to the potential closure Saturday afternoon, which, after a little investigation, we were able to confirm.

[UPDATE] MOD Pizza Slices Two More Suburban Stores From System

Struggling build your own pizza chain MOD Pizza has closed two more locations in metro Atlanta including those in Buford and East Cobb.  The East Cobb closure, first reported by East Cobb News, and Buford follow the March closure of the chain's Chamblee unit.  

[Ay, Dios Mío!] Superica Shutters Sixth Shop After Just Seventeen Months

Just seventeen months after making its debut, Superica West Midtown has closed.   The trendy Tex-Mex restaurant, located at 930 Howell Mill Road (street level of The Brady apartments), was the sixth in Atlanta from locally based Ford Fry Restaurants.  Sources tell ToNeTo Atlanta the restaurant closed "within the past week" with its location already marked "permanently closed" on Google and wiped from the Ford Fry website.

[EXCLUSIVE] Stone Age Korean Steakhouse Replacing Former BBQ Joint in Dunwoody

A lease has been signed with "Stone Age Korean Steakhouse" at Ashford Place in Dunwoody.  The new Korean steakhouse is opening in a roughly 7,200 square foot space left vacant since the 2022 closure of Memphis BBQ Co.  The space was also previously occupied by Firkin & Gryphon, a British pub, and before that, Smokey Bones, a casual BBQ restaurant.
