[EXCLUSIVE] Red Pepper Taqueria Has Closed in Brookhaven

Red Pepper Taqueria reportedly permanently closed its Brookhaven restaurant as of 8PM December 31.  Signage at the restaurant confirms tonight's early closure but suggests that it will reopen albeit with more limited hours - closed on Mondays - and will no longer sell alcohol!

Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse, which opened in Dunwoody in September 2018, is closing after dinner service tonight, according to a source who spoke to ToNeTo Atlanta on condition of anonymity. 

[EXCLUSIVE] Outdoors Oriented Public Lands to Shutter in Kennesaw, Reopen as New Dick's Concept Store

Dick's Sporting Goods is pulling the plug on its short-lived Public Lands concept store in Kennesaw.  Located in Town Center Commons (667 Ernest W. Barrett Parkway), the store was the sixth to open when it debuted October 2022 in place of Field & Stream, another Dick's banner.  

[EXCLUSIVE] Following Ownership Change, Bally Shutters Several Stores Including at Phipps Plaza

Swiss fashion house Bally has closed at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead.  The store closed as of December 28th according to a now former employee of the boutique.  Located in the Nordstrom wing on the mall's first floor, Bally has been in the Atlanta market for over 50 years, according to signage at the store.

[UPDATE] Fire Damaged McDonald's Demolished, New Restaurant Coming in 2025

Nearly nine months after a fire damaged an intown Atlanta McDonald's, the building was recently demolished to make way for a brand new restaurant in 2025.  The March 25th fire was reportedly accidental and started when part of the restaurant's rear signage ignited.  The restaurant was located at 1105 Northside Drive, not far from Georgia Tech.    

[EXCLUSIVE] Something Brewing in Braselton with Planned Opening of New Miller's Ale House

A new Miller's Ale House restaurant is planned as part of a new shopping center in Braselton. The new restaurant will be 6,800 square feet and occupy a roughly two acre outparcel of the upcoming Publix-anchored Braselton Village shopping center at 2151 Highway 211 (Old Winder Highway) NW.    

[CLOSURE ALERT] REI to Hit The Dusty Trail in Buford

REI Co-op (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) has announced it will close its store in Buford after more than twenty years in business.  The store, located at Marketplace at Millcreek (1600 Mall of Georgia Boulevard), opened in the Costco-anchored shopping center in 2003.  

[ALERT] Wendy's Quietly Closed Three Restaurants Across Metro Atlanta

A Wendy's franchisee earlier this month closed a total of three restaurants in Georgia as part of the parent company's previously announced plan to close 140 "lower-volume restaurants" in "weaker markets."

[ALERT] Souper Jenny on the Move From Brookhaven to Chamblee

Popular soup, salad and sandwich eatery Souper Jenny is on the move!  In an Instagram post this month Souper Jenny founder Jenny Levison confirms that her Brookhaven shop will move a few miles up the road to Chamblee next spring.  

[UPDATE] With The Olympic Flame Extinguished, New Restaurant Aims to Bring New "Vibes" to Landmark Location

A new kind of restaurant is replacing a longstanding West Midtown classic.  After more than fifty years in business, The Olympic Flame, a Greek-owned diner-like restaurant, closed earlier this year.  In its place, a group of business partners plans to open Midtown Social Restaurant & Bar, which promises, among other things, to offer "Elevated Vibe Dining."

[CLOSURE ALERT] Slope's BBQ Closes in Alpharetta, Only Roswell Restaurant Remains

Slope's BBQ has closed its Alpharetta location.  The restaurant, located at 5865 Gateway Drive, just off Peachtree Boulevard, closed as of December 24 after 26 years in business.  No reason was provided for the closure.

[BAM] Cuban Eatery Closes in the Blink of An Eye at Lenox Square

Lenox Square restaurant sets a new low for longevity:  Azucar Cuban Express, a local restaurant that "soft" opened August 18 at the Buckhead mall, has been permanently closed since before Thanksgiving, according to a local source.

[UPDATE] The Bell Tolls For Brookhaven Taco Joint, New Building Coming Soon

Taco Bell has closed its restaurant at 3385 Buford Highway in Brookhaven.  The restaurant, located in an outparcel of Northeast Plaza, closed "about a week ago," according to locals in the area.  DeKalb County property records indicate that the 2,196 square foot building was constructed in 1994 and sits on just over one acre.  

[WOOF] Fetch Park Calling it Quits in Columbus

Fetch Park is closing its doors in Columbus.  According to Fetch management, the park, located at 1432 5th Avenue, will close its doors at the end of the year, with December 29 reportedly their last day open to the public. The "off-leash" dog park and bar started in Atlanta in 2018.

[EXCLUSIVE] Dunkin' Destined for Busy Cascade Corner

A new Dunkin' is coming to Southwest Atlanta.  Planning documents confirm that the new Dunkin' is planned for 3724 Cascade Road, where it will replace a local convenience store.  The new Dunkin' will be about 1,900 square feet with a single drive-thru window.    

[UPDATE] Latest Closure Leaves 101 Bagel Cafe With Just One Location

101 Bagel Cafe has in recent days closed its location in East Cobb.  Located at 4811 Lower Roswell Road, the bagel and coffee shop occupied a roughly 1,500 square foot space in a three tenant building originally home to a Blockbuster Video.

Longstanding Mexican restaurant El Torero will be closing their Chamblee restaurant Saturday, December 21, after more than four decades in business.  The restaurant, located at 5575 Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee, occupies a former Taco Tico and first opened in June 1981.

Struggling build-your-own pizza chain MOD Pizza plans to close at least one more location in metro Atlanta.  The Cumming restaurant, located in an outparcel of Cumming Marketplace (908 Buford Highway) opened in July 2021 and is due to close after dinner service tonight, December 19, according employees at the restaurant.

Cultivate Food+Coffee revealed Tuesday that they plan to close after about five years in business.  The breakfast and brunch eatery, located at 1952 Howell Mill Road, first opened in February 2019 and quickly became a popular spot for coffee and brunch outings.

A new Smalls Sliders is being planned in Marietta.  According to multiple sources close to the development, the new Smalls is slated to occupy a currently vacant outparcel of Windy Hill Village (2359 Windy Hill Road), land once home to an outpost of The Mad Italian.

Nearly one year after opening, plant-based restaurant PLANTA Queen is for sale in Buckhead.  The restaurant, the Asian influenced sibling of fellow plant based eatery Planta, opened in Buckhead Village District (3013 Bolling Way) December 26, 2023, and was listed for sale Monday night by local Atlanta brokerage The Shumacher Group.

Premium dog park Off Leash has closed after less than six months in business.  Located at 142 South Main Street in Alpharetta, Off Leash opened to much fanfare July 15, having re-imagined a former Eckerd/Rite Aid into a modern, upscale dog park, and restaurant & bar.

[ALERT] Chick-fil-A to Demolish Duluth Dwarf House Restaurant

The Chick-fil-A Dwarf House restaurant at 1570 Pleasant Hill Road will close early next year and be replaced by something far more boring.  The Duluth restaurant will shut down February 28, 2025, said Chris Bruno, owner/operator of Dwarf House Group LLC, an affiliate of Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A Inc. 

[CLOSURE] Crazy Cuban Calling it Quits

The Crazy Cuban restaurant on 14th in Home Park is closing this week after nearly 14 years in business.  Located at 290 14th Street, not far from Georgia Tech, the restaurant first opened in 2010 and is due to close as of Saturday, December 7.

[CLOSURE ALERT] Froyo Franchise Menchie's Shutters at Toco Hills

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt at Toco Hills shopping center has closed.  The froyo shop opened at the Publix-anchored center in 2010 and closed "about a week ago," according to multiple ToNeTo Atlanta readers.  Given the large Jewish community in the area, the shop had offered kosher froyo, but it's not listed on the Atlanta Kashruth Commission, so they may no longer have been "certified kosher."
