[ALERT] Low-Carb, Gluten-Free Bakery to Shutter in Saturday in Sandy Springs

Zambawango, a bakery and cafe specializing in surprisingly tasty gluten-free, low-carb, and sugar-free baked goods, is closing.  Entrepreneur George Coundouriotis opened the niche bakery in Sandy Springs October 10, 2018 and will close the retail bakery as of close of business on Saturday February 1.

[ALERT] Rreal Tacos Growth Spurt Continues with New Location Planned for Duluth

At a time when many restaurants seem to be fighting for survival and others seems to be rethinking expansion, Rreal Tacos, which specializes in "authentic Mexican street food," is at it again, opening a new location in Decatur and completing another deal that will bring it to Duluth.  

[WOW] Wendy's Quietly Closes Metro Location After Nearly 40 Years in Business

Wendy's has quietly closed one of its longstanding Atlanta area restaurants.  The Wendy's in question, located at 5621 Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee, apparently closed as of January 26, according to signage on the door.  No reason for the closure was provided but the sign stated that it was permanent.

[ALERT] West Midtown Closures Continue with Humble Pie Soon to be 86d

Another day, another restaurant closure in West Midtown.  Humble Pie, the "vegetable-forward," pizza-centric restaurant at The Interlock (1115 Howell Mill Road) announced Wednesday that it will close as of Thursday, January 30.  The restaurant opened January 18, 2023. 

[ALERT] Raising Cane's to Debut in Duluth February, McDonough in March

More than sixteen months after our original report and weeks after the restaurant appeared complete, a new Raising Cane's is finally set to open in Duluth.  The new restaurant, located at 2110 Pleasant Hill Road, replaced a former Steak 'n Shake that was demolished to make way for the new chicken joint.

[SCOOP] New Cooper's Hawk Landing Next Month in Alpharetta

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant is planning to make its Atlanta debut next month.  The upscale American restaurant with a focus on wine is opening near North Point Mall at Mansell Crossing in Alpharetta.  This new restaurant, which ToNeTo Atlanta first reported on this past May, marks the company's 69th overall restaurant.

Growing Cajun-inspired sports bar chain Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is swinging for the fences with a new concept location planned for The Battery Atlanta.   The new prototype restaurant will be smaller than the chain's typical locations and is feature the brand's newest design elements.

[ALERT] Belk to Disappear From Another Legacy Parisian Store in Metro Atlanta

Another department store is shrinking its metro Atlanta presence with news coming Thursday that Belk plans to close its store at Town Center at Cobb in Kennesaw "at some point in February."  The Belk, a legacy Parisian store, opened at the suburban mall in 2007 after it acquired the Parisian brand.

[EXCLUSIVE] Popular Wine Bar Shutters West Midtown Location

The hits keep coming in West Midtown with news of the closure of Postino WineCafé at The Brickworks project at 1000 Marietta Street.  The 4,415 square foot restaurant, the second in metro Atlanta for the Phoenix-based chain, opened in a one-time Ford dealership in the mixed-use project January 23, 2023 and closed as of January 21, just shy of its two year anniversary.   

[SCOOP] New York Ice Cream Shop to Enter Atlanta Market in Southern Push

New York's Van Leeuwen Ice Cream has Georgia on its mind.  According to recently filed permits as well as updated leasing materials, the growing ice cream company has two locations in the immediate Atlanta pipeline with a source telling ToNeTo Atlanta that several others are in the works.

[UPDATE] CAVA Looks to Replace Former Midtown Convenience Store

A new Cava is planned for Peachtree Street in Midtown.   A recently filed permit with the City of Atlanta indicates the growing Mediterranean quick serve chain is looking to replace the former gas-less QT in the street level of the Viewpoint condo building (855 Peachtree Street) at the corner of 6th and Peachtree Streets, about three blocks north of The Fox Theatre.

Dollar Tree in December closed locations on Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta and on Johnson Ferry Road in Brookhaven.  No reason was provided for either store closure and there is not yet word on what, if anything, may replace either store.   

[ALERT] Award Winning West Midtown Vietnamese Restaurant Le Fat Has Closed

It seems that Le Fat in West Midtown has permanently closed.  The Vietnamese restaurant from chef Guy Wong and business partner Mike Blum opened in March 2015 in the street level retail of the 935M apartment community at 935 Marietta Street.

Snooze an A.M. Eatery, a chain of breakfast and brunch restaurants, has decided to close its West Midtown restaurant.  Located in the street level of The Osprey residential development (980 Howell Mill Road), the eatery opened in September 2021 and was at the time the second of what are now seven locations in metro Atlanta for the Denver-based concept.

[EXCLUSIVE] Massive Restaurant "Drops Out" of West Midtown Market

In a move that we'd heard was imminent, Culinary Dropout has closed their restaurant at The Brickworks in West Midtown.  The restaurant opened in November 2023 and reportedly closed as of January 15.  The other Atlanta location of the Arizona-based chain - in Dunwoody's Ashford Lane - opened this past February and remains open.

[FALSE ALARM] Source Says SIMON Seemingly Came to its Senses, Trendy Store to Remain in Business

ToNeTo Atlanta was alerted to the upcoming closure of Urban Outfitters (NASDAQ: URBN) at Lenox Square.  Interestingly, a post to the Philadelphia-based retailer's Atlanta store Instagram page was seemingly removed. 

[FOR SALE] Uncle Jack's Meat House Hits the Market in Peachtree Corners

After a multi-million dollar build out and less than four years in business, a suburban Atlanta steak-centric restaurant is for sale.  Uncle Jack's Meat House, situated in a freestanding building within the 21-acre Peachtree Corners Town Center development, has been listed for sale by Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group, an Atlanta brokerage that specializes in restaurant sales.

[UPDATE] Suburban Grocer Calls its Quits, New Fitness Club "Bags" the Space

Regional grocer Ingles closed one of its many suburban Atlanta area stores earlier this month.  The store, located at 1221 Dacula Road in Dacula (Hamilton Mill) in Gwinnett County, closed as of January 4.  Locals were reportedly warned a few days ahead of the planned closure but no reason for its shutter was provided.

Loyal Q and Brew has closed its restaurant in Alpharetta.   Located at 3655 Old Milton Parkway, the barbecue restaurant and bar reportedly closed in recent days with no notice on any of the restaurant's social media pages.  

[ALERT] Trendy Sushi Spot Sukoshi Sleeps With the Fishes at Colony Square

Sukoshi, the fast casual sushi and poke eatery from Charleston's The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, has closed at Colony Square in Midtown.  The restaurant first opened in June 2019 and according to its website, officially closed as of January 1.

[ALERT] Kohl's to Close More than Two Dozen Stores, One in Metro Atlanta

Kohl’s  (NYSE: KSS) announced Thursday plans to close more than two dozen retail stores as well as a fulfillment center.  The closures, most of which will occur by April, include just one metro Atlanta store, but ten across California in addition to the San Bernardino E-commerce Fulfillment Center (EFC), which is due to close in May.

[ALERT] Houck's Replacement Coastal Has Closed After Just 16 Months in Roswell

Coastal Bar Grill & Chill has announced that it has closed as of January 1 after less than 16 months in business.  The restaurant, located at 10930 Crabapple Road, opened in September 2023 in place of Houck's Grille, which had served the community for more than 35 years before its August 2023 closure.
